This position is in the Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, Rio de Janeiro Duty Station. Under the overall guidance of Regional Director of UN-Habitat-ROLAC and direct supervision of Regional Programme Management Officer (PMO), the incumbent will be responsible of the following duties: Responsibilities• Independently provides full range of programme/project management and implementation assistance at all phases of the programme/project cycle for the Office. • Research, compiles, analyses, summarizes, and presents information/data on budgets, highlighting noteworthy issues/trends for consideration by appropriate parties. • Reviews, revises, as necessary, submissions for audit responses. • Prepares reports on funding for programme/project-related activities. • Coordinates, processes and follows-up on administrative actions and resolves issues related to project implementation, e.g. recruitment and appointment of personnel, travel arrangements, organization of and participation in training/study tours, authorization of payments, disbursement of funds, procurement of equipment and services, etc. • Arranges for formal closures of projects, final budget revision, transfer of equipment, clearance, publication and distribution of final report. • Provides secretariat services to committees, ad hoc tasks forces, etc.; drafts and circulates agenda notes to members/participants; assembles background documentation; drafts minutes of the meeting; monitors follow-up actions, etc. • May undertake mission/field work in support of above activities, e.g. specific administrative, operational/control tasks for programme/project activities. • Establishes internal databases; sets up files, stores and manages data and information relevant to the scope of programme/project activities. • Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. • Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures. • Performs other duties as assigned. Job - Specific QualificationAdditional Technical training in the areas of Administration, Programme Management and Budgets is desirable. Work ExperienceA minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in administration, programme or related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced by two (2) years for candidates with a first-level University degree. Experience in the UN system or a similar international organization, including experience working in a front office, is required. Experience in an SAP based enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is desirable. Experience in the use of data tools such as Excel or SharePoint, data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau and in data management techniques is desirable. One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required. Spanish and Portuguese are desirable.
