About this position

In the context of a transformation process for greater impact and scale, the Institution has adopted a new approach that unifies and focuses the work of the IDB, IDB Invest and IDB Lab under one goal: ramp up the impact and scale of the results we achieve for the countries and people of Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition, IDB is currently moving through a process of recapitalization of its private sector divisions, IDB Invest and IDB Lab. In order to move forward with its recapitalizations and further growth, the IDB has embarked on a series of governance, administrative, operational, and financial reforms that will strengthen the quality of its lending and its brand as the LAC Region’s leading proponent of socially and environmentally sustainable growth.

We are looking for a Senior Outreach Consultant who actively track legislative activities related to the IDB Group, advising senior management on how to engage proactively, respond to queries and press reports, and to adjust messaging and communications in order to strengthen the IDB’s brand and relations with its primary shareholders and representatives.

The Senior Outreach Consultant will report to the Executive Vice President (EVP). The EVP as the Chief Operating Officer of the institution and under the guidance of the Board of Executive Directors and the President of the Bank, is responsible for the operation of the Bank and provides day-to-day management oversight of and direction to, the Vice Presidents and all other senior staff. The EVP also oversees the quality control and risk management of all Bank operations and serves as chair of all Management committees responsible for the Bank’s operational activities.

You will be part of an impactful and multidisciplinary team working on projects, tasks, and activities geared to advise the EVP, senior management, and the Bank teams in leading critical issues for the Institution.

What you’ll do:

  • Under the overall guidance of the EVP and working closely with the IDB Group’s senior management, the Office of Outreach and Partnership, among other relevant departments, actively track legislative activities related to the IDB Group, advising senior management on how to engage proactively, respond to queries and press reports, and to adjust messaging and communications in order to strengthen the IDB’s brand and relations with its primary shareholders and representatives. S/he will prepare briefs for senior management in advance of meetings with legislative or executive branch representatives, officials and staff on these matters.
  • Provide guidance and carry out logistical support on outreach to US policy and advocacy groups, particularly those engaged in analysis and/or monitoring of multilateral development banks and in key areas of IDB Group work with global implications such as climate, health, food security and related. S/he will provide strategic guidance on how to engage constructively, how best to share information and strengthen relations, and minimize or manage reputational risks, so as to strengthen the project lifecycle and monitoring processes, promote the institution’s mandate and priorities, and assure that key feedback is considered and incorporated as appropriate into IDB Group’s strategies and actions.
  • With the support of senior management, facilitate the development and implementation of strategic advocacy plans to advance specific areas of priority for the IDB Group.
  • Undertake other timely analysis or investigation related to the management of operational or administrative risks at the request of her or his supervisors.
