GLOBAL CORPORATE SOLUTIONS:
Reporting to the Managing Director and World Bank Group Chief Administrative Officer, the Global Corporate Solutions (GCS) integrates the functions of Corporate Security, Corporate Real Estate, and Corporate Services to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
ABOUT THE UNIT:
GCS Corporate Services’ mission is to support the World Bank Group’s strategic agenda by delivering high-quality corporate services provided to WBG VPUs and individual staff. GCS Corporate Services (GCSCS) seeks to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery through stronger integration and streamlined processes. Service delivery is heavily outsourced to external vendors. GCSCS seeks to obtain the best overall value and results for the WBG, while also promoting innovation and socially and environmentally sustainable practices.
To achieve its purpose, GCSCS is structured into four main divisions (i) Travel and Staff Services, (ii) Integrated Business Services; (iii) Innovation and Client Solutions; and (iv) Global Business Centers.
GCSCS provides services to the WBG in the areas of Travel and Visa services; Translation and Interpretation; Printing & Multimedia Services; Interactive Media Services; Graphic Design; Publications & Marketing; Food and Conference Services; Mail & Shipping Services; Staff Services, including Fitness Center, Childcare, and Commuter Services; and the Art Program.
GCS Corporate Services also includes the GCS Service Desk, the Processing and Analytics teams, the Client Support and Project Management teams, and teams supporting Change Management and Innovation.
The Global Business Centers – Chennai and Sofia (previously Shared Service Centers) are also managed through GCSCS including the secretariat services, as well as the provision of administrative oversight to the Family Network, the 1818 Society, and the Staff Association.
GCSCS is responsible for setting the policy framework and service standards, and for delivering services through a combination of staff and vendors at WBG headquarters (HQ) in Washington, DC and in Country Offices. GCSCS has about 130 staff, over 600 contractors and a roster of around 1,000 worldwide.
The Senior Manager, Corporate Services, is seeking a dynamic individual who combines technical expertise and excellent people management skills to lead the Corporate Services Department.
Reporting directly to the GCSDR, the Senior Manager will be a contributing member of the GCS Management team and work closely with the Chief Security Officer and the Senior Manager, Corporate Real Estate.
DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Operational Excellence and Service Delivery
• Establish a highly integrated, customer-facing work program; resolve complex and sensitive issues (both project and people-related); and ensure the highest standards of service and quality for the four divisions under the management structure.
• Manage a large administrative and capital budget, ensuring that appropriate internal controls and compliances with WBG’s guidelines, as well as adherence to the department’s quality control processes.
• Refine service offerings through continuous monitoring and evaluation, external benchmarking, use of recognized tools, and opportunities for innovation through AI/technology to ensure value for money and best practices.
• Identify changing business requirements and develop revised and improved service offerings that enhance the customer experience while proactively identifying opportunities to build high corporate visibility for WBG clients and mitigate reputational risks.
• Work closely with colleagues across the WBG to provide streamlined and cost-effective corporate services, with a strong focus on agility, simplification, and innovation.
Strategic Leadership and Governance
• Oversee the delivery and vision for the Corporate Services department, working with the support of the GCSCS management team and in strong collaboration with GCS Director and key stakeholders from across the WBG.
• Establish and maintain strategic relationships and engagements with other parts of the WBG, as well as external partners to enable constructive and strategically focused solutions.
• Build and maintain excellent partnerships with other relevant Bank Group units to ensure that Corporate Services responds to client requests in an integrated, timely, and coherent manner and that substantive analytical work is conducted throughout the process.
• Oversee and provide strategic leadership to Global Business Centers’ center managers and governance, including management of GBC Secretariat.
• Be an active member of GCS’s management team and take on other duties or special projects as identified by the GCS Director.
People/Talent Management accountabilities:
• Model exemplary WBG leadership values and managerial behaviors and reinforce these qualities through leadership and career development for tagged managers and staff within GCSCS.
• Foster a culture of continuous engagement and collaboration across different units.
• Provide leadership during times of change, ensuring smooth transitions and helping to establish a cohesive and well-integrated unit.
• Design, implement, and manage a central Change Management unit, including Learning and Development, on behalf of GCS.
Selection Criteria
• Advanced degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Business Management; Public Policy) and substantial professional experience, including at least 15 years in positions of increasing complexity and responsibility, or equivalent combination of qualification and experience.
• Extensive experience managing corporate services in multilateral organizations or international corporations.
• Sound business acumen, as well as thorough knowledge of corporate services policies, programs, and procedures, with demonstrated results in delivering programs worldwide. Understanding the challenges and corporate policies of international institutions will be a plus.
• Proven track record of leading organizational change and driving innovation within a large, complex organization.
• Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans that align with organizational goals and objectives.
• Corporate perspective with ability to understand and balance operational issues with management priorities and risk concerns.
• Demonstrated ability to represent a multilateral organizations or international corporation externally and/or lead discussions at the highest official levels both internally and externally.
• Outstanding interpersonal, diplomatic and partnership skills required for building and maintaining collaborative relationships with senior management, government officials, partners and other stakeholders.
• Ability to navigate complex policy issues with corporate significance, manage multiple complex tasks, forge strong and effective relationships, and resolve differences across organizational boundaries.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to speak persuasively and present ideas clearly and concisely.
• Experience in leading and managing large teams of staff, and vendor contracts.
• Very strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in teams, with management and colleagues at all levels, with a proven ability to work across functions/boundaries, and to build bridges across different constituencies.
• A high degree of self-motivation, positive attitude, and drive and the ability to contribute to a team-based, multi-cultural work environment.
