    Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship

    The position of Senior Investment Officer is assigned to the Equity Investments Unit in the Office of the Director General (OPSD-EIU) within the Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD). You will be based at our Headquarters in Manila, Philippines.

    You will report to designated OPSD-EIU international staff and will oversee junior staff members, as applicable.

    Your Role

    As a Senior Investment Officer, you will help evaluate and execute commercially oriented direct equity investment opportunities that contribute to ADB's development goals for the private sector and its overall goal of reducing poverty.

    You will:

    a. Project Processing

    • Help identify investment opportunities including conducting market research to identify companies in Asia that align with ADB's Equity investment strategy and mandate for the private sector.
    • Help analyze potential investment opportunities by evaluating track record, strategy, value addition, and management team of companies;
    • Develop financial valuation models and sensitivity analyses and make necessary recommendations.
    • Participate in due diligence missions and provide technical support and recommendations to Team Leaders in negotiating, structuring, and completing the legal documentation.
    • Engage with the Office of Risk Management and the Safeguards Specialists to address credit-related and other issues in respect of the transactions under processing.
    • Oversee the documentation and maintenance of comprehensive files related to transactions under processing.

      b. Monitoring of the direct equity investment portfolio

    • Prepare annual monitoring reports.
  • Conduct analysis of portfolio company financial data, problems and remedial actions, and perform a valuation analysis of ADB's equity investment based on the relevant valuation methodology.
Work closely with the rest of the EIU team - informing the relevant staff of warning signals or potential problems in the portfolio company and design and help coordinate the appropriate remedial action. Participate in missions for due diligence related to the monitoring of the portfolio company. Ensure adherence by portfolio companies to their obligations for submission to ADB of periodic reports that are accurate and on time - making follow-ups calls if required. Communicate with clients in case of covenant breaches or unexpected developments. Work with clients to design remedial measures (waivers, demand letters, others) and implement them jointly with other ADB departments. Monitor the development effectiveness parameters and environmental and social management system (ESMS) compliance of the portfolio company's for compilation in PSOD's Development Effectiveness Report.

c. Database Maintenance

Maintain the database of legal and other documents on the portfolio companies. Maintain a project related database, tracking portfolio size, composition, and other characteristics, for management information. Maintain a database of transaction covenants and other transaction related deadlines and milestones and oversee junior staff for their correct application.

d. Project Annual Reviews and Project Completion Reports

Perform desk reviews, collect data, assess financial and developmental performance of projects, conduct interviews and participate in missions to evaluate projects for extended annual review reports (XARR) Prepare XARRs independently or jointly with other PSOD staff

e. Others

Perform other tasks as assigned and reflected in the incumbent's workplan.

Qualifications

You will need:

Bachelor's degree in Finance and/or Accounting, preferably with Master's degree or equivalent. At least 8 years of relevant experience, preferably in corporate finance, and with at least 4 years of supervisory experience. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of multilateral finance institutions' standard operational processes and procedures.

Proven ability to undertake research and analysis on difficult but well-defined tasks, collect and organize required data, apply appropriate computer skills in organizing and analyzing the data; and prepare notes, papers and sections of reports.

Experienced in building financial models for valuations and financial returns analysis. Good analytical thinking with the ability to comprehend causal links, make pros and cons analysis, and analyze factors to reach a decision. Ability to guide junior members of the team to facilitate work planning, delivery and quality review. Ability to work with teams as a constructive team member. Highly motivated and strong work ethic. Additional Information

This appointment is open to internal and external applicants.

This is a fixed-term appointment for an initial fixed period of 3 years. At the end of the initial period, this appointment may, at the option of ADB, be extended once for up to 2 years, converted to a regular appointment, or ended on its expiration date. This decision will be made in the overall interest of ADB that: (a) it will require Staff's particular blend of skills and experience in the foreseeable future; and (b) Staff's performance is satisfactory and they are suitable for further employment.
