The TeamThe Communications team in the China Country Office is responsible for protecting and strengthening the foundation’s brand and reputation in China, and advancing the foundation’s advocacy and programmatic goals through strategic communications. The team’s areas of focus include the development and implementation of integrated campaigns and management of owned social channels and platforms, engagement with media and digital influencers, strategic deployment of leadership voices, and cultivation of champions and partnerships to support priority issues. Undercutting these efforts is our ability to engage priority audiences with compelling themes, content and stories.
We work in close partnership with a diverse range of grantees and partners, and our internal colleagues from the policy & advocacy and government relations team, programmatic teams focusing on health and development, as well as the communications teams based in Seattle/other regional offices.
Your Role
The Senior Communications Officer, Brand Content will be a member of the China Communications team. This role will implement brand strategy, leading content creation from brief to production. The postholder will manage a set of vendors/contractors to drive campaigns and other initiatives from concept to delivery.
This is a limited-term position (LTE) for 12 months, based at the foundation’s office in Beijing, and reporting to the Deputy Director, China Communications.
What You'll Do
Collaborate with internal stakeholders across global and China communications team, to drive brand communication planning and implementation.
Work with Program Officers and external partners to uncover stories that showcase brand value, approach and impact.
Effectively manage and collaborate with diverse agencies/contractors to develop creative content in diversified formats, e.g. video, infographic, social article.
Manage editorial planning and day-to-day operations of foundation’s own social media channels on Weibo, WeChat and Douyin.
Orchestrate paid-owned-earned media efforts to promote key social media campaigns.
Partner with the Insights and Measurement team and Campaign Strategy Leads, to implement impact measurement, analyze user behaviors and distill insights to optimize future campaigns.
Manage brand identity to ensure the foundation brand is represented accurately and consistently across all platforms and channels.

Your Experience
Bachelor’s or other advanced degree with 10+ years of brand communications experience in China.
Experience in either non-profit, corporate communications or agency, is preferred. Understanding of global health initiatives is desirable.
Strong expertise in working with internal and external partners to produce video and other high-quality multiple-media content for a variety of social media channels.
A track record of managing and strengthening a mix of branded social media channels.
A strong sense of storytelling supported by solid analytical, writing and verbal skills for engaging a broad and diverse audiences.
Demonstrated creativity, high energy, positive attitude, and initiative to solve unstructured problems with little oversight.
Strong project management skills and the ability to tackle competing priorities.
Ability to work with flexibility and efficiency in a fast-paced and complex environment.
Excellent skills in relationship management, communication, collaboration, and presentation.
Ability to communicate eloquently in both Mandarin and English.
Understands geopolitical and cultural sensitivities and nuances.

Comfortable in a wide range of cultural, geographic and operational situations, demonstrating culturally sensitive behavior with a diverse range of people and a deep commitment to development issues and high standards of personal integrity.
Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
Must be able to legally work in the country where this position is located without visa sponsorship.
