The Department of Energy Systems is one of the most distinguished academic institutions in Germany and internation- ally with a focus on the energy industry. The department performs interdisciplinary tasks and deals with the complex interactions between technology, politics, society and the energy markets.
The team is characterized by staff with various professional backgrounds, the like of engineering, economics and human- ities, on whose approaches and methods the work is based. Our work focuses in particular on the following topics:

  • Analysis of energy and environmental policy frameworks and market design
  • Consideration of social aspects of energy transformations
  • Studies on energy poverty, access to energy and development in the Global South
  • Analysis of energy market and pricing structures
  • Examination of energy industry innovations and their system integration

In addition to research, the department makes an important contribution to the education of future decision-makers in the energy sector with a comprehensive range of courses, critical scientific discourse and the supervision of dissertations.

Working field: Work in current research areas of the department. Independent research and publication activities in the above-mentioned fields as well as support of proposal writing. Support of teaching in the department, including the cre- ation of IT-based exercises and organization and independent execution of exercises and projects (in German and Eng- lish) as well as the supervision of theses. Teaching activities cover the subject areas of basic economics, energy eco- nomics, energy system analysis as well as energy poverty and access to energy in the Global South. Within the scope of the activity, the competence to write and publish at least one scientific publication should be acquired. The possibility of writing further publications and summarizing them in a cumulative dissertation is given.

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in engineering or business studies with a focus on the energy industry
  • Previous knowledge in the above mentioned fields of work is desirable
  • Good German and English language skills required
  • Teaching experience in the above areas is desirable
