About this position
We are looking for a dedicated, upbeat, and team-oriented Quantitative Strategist & Portfolio Manager.
You will work in the Investments Group, which is part of the Finance Department. This team is responsible for handling the liquid assets portfolios of the IDB Group and other funds entrusted to the Bank, and provides related capacity building and advisory opportunities. As such, the Investments Group provides leading investment management services and offers innovative valuable investment solutions, working closely with stakeholders and in partnership with other areas of the IDB Group.
What you’ll do:
- Working under the moderate supervision of the Head of Investments, you will:
- Build and maintain quantitative financial models for the day-to-day analysis and management of the investment portfolios.
- Negotiate the investment of the Bank's liquid holdings of dollars and other currencies, as assigned, with commercial banks and securities dealers in national and international markets. This includes fixed and variable income markets globally using derivatives such as futures, interest-rate and cross-currency swaps to hedge exposures.
- Research and analyze capital markets information with special emphasis on rates markets and quasi-sovereign debt markets, in close coordination with more senior investment staff. Keep the Investments Group updated on events that affect the Bank’s portfolios and future investments.
- Contribute to the development, administration, and follow-up of investment-related activities; review the Bank's compliance with relevant guidelines and the proper recording of transactions. Be largely responsible for maintaining current and accurate trade information in the Bank's investment financial systems.
- Participate in asset-management related capacity building opportunities for the benefit of official institutions in IDB’s borrowing member countries.
- Provide technical guidance to more junior colleagues.
What you'll need
- Education: Master's degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. CFA Preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in multi-currency, investment management, capital markets, fixed-income securities and derivatives. Experience with international markets and capital markets software a plus.
- Languages:
- Proficiency in English required. Additional knowledge of another Bank language (Spanish, French or Portuguese) preferred.

Requirements

Type of contract and duration
- International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
