The purpose of the Protection officer position is to ensure day to day implementation of the Project activities in Nineveh by contributing to specific technical of the Protection Project.

    What you will do

  • Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
Implement delegated Protection portfolio according to plan of action.Implement procedures and activities within own function or as delegated within Protection CCPrepare and develop status reports as required by management.Ensure proper filing of documents.Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist.

 

Specifically, you will;

Provide general protection case management services in compliance with best-practice and international standards in protection response (including NRC case management SOP’s) including assessment of need, development of case plan and referral/facilitation of access to services, follow-up, and case closure, for the most at-risk individuals.Ensure Accurate update the Protection database and the filling forms of case management according to SOP. And adherence to data protection protocols.Provide focused PSS and Basic MHPSS for individuals as a part of protection case management. In coordination with TL and PM, advocate with community stakeholders and authorities to achieve individual beneficiary goals set in the case plan.Accompany beneficiaries to various offices when required based on risk assessments. Conduct field visits to beneficiaries and project locationsEnsure up-to-date information on available services and procedures for beneficiaries to access services.Identify barriers to access services, document, and report on them to TL and PM.Ensure organization and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards.Use initiative in day to day problem-solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities and standards, and promote and share ideas for technical improvement.Assist in the delivery of high-quality community participation and engagement on protection awareness-raising.Ensure dissemination of clear and reliable information sessions on service provision and other pre-selected key topics. Ensure updated services mapping and stakeholder mapping. And use it to facilitate the service provision through case management. Submit weekly and monthly activity plans, reports and recommendations for assessed persons and identified beneficiariesActively participate in case reviews and lead case conferences as apart of case management. Support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools and report on issues in the implementation of the program.Undertake any other reasonable task assigned by management.

Professional competencies

At least 3 years of experience in Protection-related work and general case management. University degree / high experience in social work, psychology, or psychosocial counsellingGood Knowledge of work concepts in communities affected by violence in Mosul.Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination, and safety of client at all times. Ability to discuss sensitive issues with respect and empathyGood interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity, and flexibility.Good ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, work independently, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.Demonstrated interest in humanitarian work and supporting people affected by conflict.
