The Corporate Services and Facilities (CSF) department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is actively seeking a dedicated Projects Officer for Operational Resilience and Business Continuity. Under the general supervision of the Resilience Section Chief in the Information, Resilience, and Services (IR) division, the selected candidate will work within the resilience team to support strengthening the Fund’s operational resilience program to anticipate, prepare, respond, and recover from business disruptions. The selected candidate will also support the implementation of enhanced strategies to IMF’s existing programs in partnership with institutional stakeholders by identifying business process vulnerabilities, supporting the establishment of effective mitigation measures, and developing comprehensive response plans to ensure critical operations can continue to meet the IMF’s mandate when operations are impacted by a disruptive event. The Projects Officer will also serve as a passionate change agent, with the primary responsibility to lead key aspects of the business continuity program along with contributing to the success of the overall operational resilience program. The Project Officer will also provide support to the IMF’s crisis management activities and efforts as needed.
The duties and responsibilities of the Projects Officer will include the following:
- Operational Resilience: Contribute to the development and enhancements of policies, procedures, and frameworks, focusing on IMF’s operational resilience.
- Business Continuity Program: Lead the work to strengthen the IMF’s business continuity program by actively soliciting stakeholder feedback to optimize the business continuity lifecycle.
- Enterprise Risk: Ensure alignment with enterprise risk acceptance levels and identify creative and agile alternative business continuity and recovery methods.
- Crisis Management: Provide crisis management support to the IMF’s Crisis Management Team and complete assignments during crisis response as needed.
- Advisory: Provide expert guidance on industry best practices and efficient resilience strategies. Conduct thorough evaluations and research on emerging business continuity risks.
- Program Management: Oversee and manage multiple projects and priorities, collaborating with internal project managers and vendors on design, development, and enhancements to ensure effective program delivery.
- Collaboration: Work with all departments to document Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and map business processes, identify risks, and improve resilience. Promote collective problem solving and support team members.
- Communication and Outreach: Organize and deliver impactful presentations, develop awareness campaigns, and create reference materials to promote the objectives of the Business Continuity program.
- Community Engagement: Actively participate in the operational resilience community to gather benchmarking insights and share best practices.
- Working Groups: Lead and participate in institutional working groups focused on the development, design, and automation of the Business Continuity program, collaborating effectively with various departments.
Required Skills:
- Business Continuity Plans (BCPs)/Business Impact Analysis (BIAs): Identify key needs and connect attributes to the IMF’s Operational Resilience program elements, and guide and support IMF’s business units on the BCP/BIA processes.
- Client Interface: Expertise in managing client interactions, ensuring seamless and positive experience throughout all touchpoints.
- Institutional Adaptability: Skilled at quickly gaining an understanding of IMF’s business units and the Operational Resilience program to provide exceptional advisory and support services.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Critical Thinking: Experience in proactive problem identification and solution development.
- Innovation: Ability to champion change, identify innovative solutions, and work with key stakeholders on implementation efforts.
- Proficiency in the Use of Systems/Applications: Understanding of the Operational Resilience Tool frameworks to support business continuity and resilience programs.
- Global Perspective: Sensitivity to diverse cultures and political issues.
Qualifications
Candidates with relevant Industry certifications will be preferred.
Educational development, typically acquired through the completion of a relevant advanced university degree in operational risk management, business continuity planning and management, operational resilience, crisis management, or equivalent; or a bachelor’s degree supplemented by a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience is required.
This vacancy shall be filled by a 3-year Term appointment in accordance with the Fund's new employment rules that took effect on May 1, 2015.
