About this position:

The Social protection and Health Division (SCL/SPH), part of Social Sector (SCL), is looking for a dynamic, energetic, and detailed oriented individual to work with the Division's operational and administrative processes and activities.

The Social Sector (SCL) is a multidisciplinary team convinced that investing in people is the way to improve lives and overcome the development challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean. Jointly with the countries in the region, the Social Sector formulates public policy solutions to reduce poverty and improve the delivery of education, work, social protection, and health services. The objective is to advance a more productive region, with equal opportunities for men and women, and greater inclusion of the most vulnerable groups.

The Social Protection and Health Division (SPH) is tasked with the preparation and supervision of IDB operations in borrowing member countries in the areas of social protection (safety nets and transfers and services for social inclusion which include early childhood development, youth programs, care services for dependency, among others), health (health capital investment strategies, health networks strengthening, health system financing, organization and performance, etc.) and nutrition.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide comprehensive support to Team Leaders throughout the entire lifecycle of projects, including Loans, Technical Cooperations, Investment Grants, and Project Completion Reports (PCRs), ensuring adherence to Bank procedures and guidelines.
  • Actively monitor the work program, regularly updating milestones, and overseeing the execution process of Technical Cooperations (TCs) to ensure timely completion.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop operational documents in compliance with Bank policies, utilizing Bank templates, tools, and other resources to maintain consistency and quality.
  • Conduct thorough editing, proofreading, and quality control checks on operational and knowledge documents produced by Division teams to uphold the highest standards of accuracy.
  • Efficiently manage time and schedules for team members, prioritizing tasks based on current and future needs, proactively anticipating changes, and effectively communicating relevant information.
  • Utilize modern office management technologies to meticulously track assigned tasks, project steps, and timetables, facilitating seamless coordination with relevant staff and providing timely assistance and information on project-related matters.
  • Ensure accurate publication and filing of official operational and administrative documents in the Bank's repository, maintaining organized and easily accessible records.
  • Act as a liaison between project team members and contract officers, facilitating communication, requests for additional information, payments, and timely resolution of administrative issues to ensure smooth contract execution and proper archiving of deliverables.
  • Proactively follow up on pending actions and independently address routine information requests, expediting processes as necessary to maintain project momentum and efficiency.
  • Serve as a reliable backup to other Project Assistants, stepping in seamlessly to provide support and continuity in their absence.

    What you'll need:

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience: 2 years of relevant professional experience in Bank Operation processing.
    • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

      Key skills:

      • Knowledge and experience implementing the Bank’s project cycle and procedures.
      • Technology and systems knowledge – Demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience working with Microsoft office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
      • Project and task management - highly organized with good project management practice, problem-solving, analytical skills and ability to work competently with minimal supervision. Demonstrate attention to detail and quality. Has ability to manage multiple tasks and complete tasks within agreed schedule. Ability to thrive and function effectively in a dynamic environment under tight deadlines, while working on multiple projects.

      • Previous experience working with IDB tools/systems such as: Convergence, SisCor365, EzShare, Concur, SNOW is desirable but not required
