Context: Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN Agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and nongovernmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. The forced return of Brazilians represents a significant humanitarian, social, and economic challenge, requiring a coordinated response based on human rights and sustainable reintegration of forced returnees. Many arrive in Brazil in situations of extreme vulnerability, without financial resources, housing, immediate access to essential services, and with significant mental health consequences for directly affected individuals. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Brazil has been implementing a project to support the Brazilian government in ensuring that forcibly returned Brazilian citizens are received with dignity, that their human rights are respected, and that they receive support to overcome vulnerabilities and reintegrate into society. Under the overall supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Project Assistant (Logistics) will be responsible for supporting the coordination, implementation and monitoring of protection-related activities within the project framework. Core Functions / Responsibilities
Execute WAVE, and other, administrative tasks when required; Support with text editing, proofreading and translation to ensure quality of IOM products and materials; Support the operational and administrative aspects of ongoing projects, including the monitoring of project implementation with respect to tracking of activities and results achieved; Support implementation activities of Logistics Team in the field, ensuring efficient coordination with the supply chain unit for supplies, materials, and resources for the reception and assistance of forcibly returned Brazilians. Monitor and manage inventory by maintaining accurate records, assessing logistical needs for deliveries, and ensuring proper storage and distribution of food and non-food items in line with established guidelines Support the distribution of supplies to returnees and conduct post-distribution monitoring in line with established standards. Provide logistical support at arrival points, including reception, kit distribution, transportation, accommodation, and baggage assistance for forcibly returned Brazilians Support the coordination and organization of transportation and escort services for returnees, including vulnerable individuals, ensuring proper documentation and liaison with service providers. Provide administrative assistance to the Protection Team of the Project (identify and track follow-up actions; administrative and procurement actions as required); Assist in performing various assignments, by planning, organizing, managing logistics, and facilitating different events and activities in their administrative and organizational aspects; Perform other work-related tasks, as required. Education High school diploma with a minimum of six (4) years of relevant professional experience; University degree in logistics, administration, social sciences, economics, law, public policy or a related field from an accredited academic institution with a minimum of two (2) years of experience. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Experience Experience working in logistics and operations is an advantage. Experience in liaising with Brazilian Government agencies, national/international institutions, United Nations Agencies and nongovernmental organizations; Experience working with social protection and health system in Brazil; Experience with government, civil society, UN, or private sector actors; Experience with operational systems; Experience with event organization; Experience in migration and refuge, in either public or private sector, international organizations or civil society.
