    JOB TITLE: Programme Policy Officer SC8

    UNIT/DIVISION: Programme

    DUTY STATION (City, Country): Tindouf, Algeria

    DURATION: 12 months

    REPORTING LINE: Head of Programme

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    The Programme Policy Officer will fulfil the following tasks:

    • Under the supervision of the head of programme, provide general project management operational support and guidance to the activities under WFP Algeria CO i.e GFA, Nutrition, School feeding and resilience activities ensuring a coordinated approach with stakeholder technical teams and ensuring compliance with WFP standards and procedures.
    • Support both the in-kind and CBT transfer modalities of the WFP activities and ensure timely follow up with both internal and external stakeholders to enable timely distributions.
    • While providing general operational/implementation support to all activities, act as the Resilience focal point and contribute towards the development of resilience-related projects, plans and processes, ensuring alignment with wider programme policies and guidance.
    • Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on all the programmes and activities that enable informed decision making while maintaining consistency of information.
    • Lead in the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on resilience activities
    • Liaise with internal counterparts mostly supply chain finance and RAM to ensure effective and timely distributions and monitoring for the ongoing projects.
    • Ensure that rigorous quality standards are maintained by gathering and maintaining data on resilience projects under own supervision.
    • Liaise with authorities, agencies, partners, and other stakeholders involved in livelihoods and resilience projects to ensure effective collaboration and monitor of ongoing projects.
    • Support the identification, development and management of potential partnerships to collaborative working leading to improved food assistance packages with special focus on resilience building.
    • Support the capacity building of WFP staff, partners and authorities to prepare for and respond to food assistance and resilience needs, e.g. through project management support of learning initiatives.
    • Provide guidance to support staff, acting as a point of referral and assisting them with analysis and queries within the technical expertise of the position.
    • Act as then WFP focal for the SRRP Livelihood sector.

      REPORTING:

      The direct supervision for this assignment will be with the Head of Programme. The second level supervision / reporting will lay with the Deputy Country Director (DCD).

      QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

      Education:

      First university degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or another field relevant to international development assistance.

      Experience:

      • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in humanitarian or development settings, preferably with a focus on food assistance, resilience, or livelihoods programming.

      • Minimum 1 year of experience in a supervisory role leading humanitarian or development projects.

      • Demonstrated experience in project management and operational support across multi-sectoral programs (e.g., General Food Assistance, Nutrition, School Feeding, Resilience).

      • Proven ability to coordinate with internal units (e.g., supply chain, finance, monitoring) and external stakeholders including government entities, NGOs, and UN agencies.

      • Experience in designing, implementing, and monitoring resilience and livelihood projects.
