JOB TITLE: Programme Policy Officer SC8
UNIT/DIVISION: Programme
DUTY STATION (City, Country): Tindouf, Algeria
DURATION: 12 months
REPORTING LINE: Head of Programme
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Programme Policy Officer will fulfil the following tasks:
REPORTING:
The direct supervision for this assignment will be with the Head of Programme. The second level supervision / reporting will lay with the Deputy Country Director (DCD).
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
First university degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or another field relevant to international development assistance.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in humanitarian or development settings, preferably with a focus on food assistance, resilience, or livelihoods programming.
Minimum 1 year of experience in a supervisory role leading humanitarian or development projects.
Demonstrated experience in project management and operational support across multi-sectoral programs (e.g., General Food Assistance, Nutrition, School Feeding, Resilience).
Proven ability to coordinate with internal units (e.g., supply chain, finance, monitoring) and external stakeholders including government entities, NGOs, and UN agencies.
Experience in designing, implementing, and monitoring resilience and livelihood projects.
Knowledge & Skills:
Solid understanding of resilience-building strategies, food assistance modalities, and social protection frameworks.
Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple activities and stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Strong analytical and reporting skills, with attention to detail and consistency.
Ability to work independently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data management tools.
Ability to conceptualize, develop, and manage programs with strong negotiation and advocacy capabilities.
Languages:
Fluency (level C) in English and Arabic language.
Proficiency in Spanish is considered an asset.
Knowledge of French is desirable.
