    ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:

    Program Policy Officer (Activity Manager) NOA reports to the National Program Policy Officer (NoB) with guidance and regular feedback. The Activity manager is involved in programme or policy activities or similar nature and analytical work of limited complexity

    JOB PURPOSE:

    To provide effective operational support to WFP programmes on resilience and reducing vulnerability to natural hazards, climate change and other risks and improving sustainability of livelihoods

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):

    • Technical support and engage development of a wide variety of projects, plans and processes covering but not limited to social protection, resilience, livelihoods, disaster management, disaster risk management, early warning, anticipatory actions and emergency preparedness and response, ensuring alignment with wider program policies and guidance.

    • Provide direct project management support to social protection, resilience and resilience building projects, food security, livelihoods, disaster Management, early warning, anticipatory actions and emergency preparedness and response programmes.

    • Facilitate cross-functional coordination at the appropriate level and convene the counterparts from all technical/functional workstream areas under the purview

    • Coordinate data gathering and monitoring systems ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained.

    • Ensure accurate and timely operational level reporting of all programmes and activities under the preview that enable informed decision making

    • Liaise with internal and external counterparts including technical working groups to ensure effective collaboration.

    • Work closely with the government ministries and departments that cover the area of work of the position to support planning and implementation of WFP supported programs

    • Support the identification, development of potential partnerships.

    • Capacity building of WFP staff, partners and national government to in areas of social protection, livelihoods, Disaster Management, Anticipatory actions and emergency preparedness and response

    • Meaningfully engage community-based stakeholders, including civil society and communities into risk-sensitive planning processes

    • Be accountable for budget management for related strategic objectives and activities.

    • Ensure the program design advances WFP’s Gender Equality and embeds nutrition-sensitive dimensions of the WFP delivery and inclusion framework

    • Other as required.

      QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

      Experience: Candidates should possess a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in an international organization if they hold a Master's degree, or 5 years of professional experience if they hold a Bachelor's degree.

      Education: Advanced University degree in International Development, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Social Protection, Disaster Management or other field relevant to international development assistance, OR First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.

      Knowledge and Skill: Strong knowledge or professional qualifications of majority of following work areas; social protection, resilience, livelihoods, disaster risk management, anticipatory actions and emergency preparedness and response.

      Language: Fluency (level C) in English language and the duty station’s language, if different.
