    Field Coordinator to lead planning and execution of community works activities in the four districts, working closely with district coordinators in the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, district agricultural officers in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition, and component managers.

    The Field Coordinator will be based in Mohale’s Hoek and will travel periodically to the other districts to ensure effective coordination and delivery of project activities.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage and supervise overall implementation of climate change adaptation/resilience/livelihoods activities across project sites in Mafeteng, Mohale’s Hoek, Quthing, and Thaba-Tseka districts.
    • Ensure community-based planning and implementation processes that promote sustainability and ownership of productive, nutrition-sensitive assets.
    • Lead development of annual work plans and implementation strategies that align with integrated catchment management, natural resource management and climate change adaptation strategies such as NAP, NDC e,t.c.
    • Oversee implementation of Environmental and Social Safeguards (ESS), gender equality and social inclusion, and protection principles in all the project activities.
    • Facilitate integration of weather forecasts, seasonal forecasts, climate information, awareness campaigns, and social behavioural change strategies into agricultural activities and public works programming.
    • Identify and recommend strategic partnerships to support the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Security in planning and implementing interventions and activities that improve household and community livelihoods.
    • Coordinate and consolidate district annual work plans and procurement plan.
    • Provide technical support to district-level departments to ensure effective execution of agricultural and community works activities.
    • Support baseline assessments, progress tracking, and monitoring and evaluation assignments related to agriculture and public works.
    • Support and coordinate consultancy work, oversight missions, and donor visits related to asset creation activities.
    • Coordinate comprehensive reporting by consolidating inputs from field officers, districts, and partners to ensure timely (monthly, quarterly, yearly and as and when required) and accurate submission of progress reports.
    • Support and Manage the SCOPE data collection and processing activities, ensuring timely payment of cash transfers to the beneficiaries.
    • Manage timely processing of procurement requests, approval of travel plans to support execution of the project activities.
    • Support effective documentation in collaboration with the government communication team to track and highlight before-and-after intervention impacts for visibility and learning purposes.
    • Support off-farm livelihood activities and foster active engagement of youth, women in climate change adaptation interventions to enhance community resilience.
    • Perform any other related duties as required.

      QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

      Education: Master’s degree in Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Soil Sciences, Agriculture, or a related field with 5 years professional experience in field or community work. Or First degree with additional years of experience.
