Setting and ReportingThe United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) was established in 1949 by the United Nations General Assembly to provide retirement, death, disability, and related benefits for staff of the United Nations and other member organizations of the Fund. The Pension Fund pays benefits in 19 currencies to more than 70,000 beneficiaries who reside in 190 countries, and services more than 150,700 participants who work in the 25 member organizations of the Pension Fund. The Fund has offices in New York (United States) and Geneva (Switzerland) and two liaison offices in Nairobi (Kenya) and Bangkok (Thailand), respectively. This position is located in the Risk Management Unit in the Pension Administration of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (“UNJSPF” or “the Fund”). The Risk Management Unit manages and/or provides technical support to the Fund-wide risk management working groups, advises senior managers on the development and implementation of risk management and internal framework, and leads the analysis, monitoring and reporting of risk for the Pension Administration. The Risk Management Unit is the focal point with internal and external oversight bodies and analyzes and supports the implementation of the recommendations of oversight bodies. The Programme Officer reports to the Senior Risk Management and Compliance Officer P-5. The position is based in New York. ResponsibilitiesWithin delegated authority, the Programme Officer (Risk Management) P-3 will be responsible for the following duties: • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Fund’s risk management, internal control, and other assigned programmes/projects, etc.; monitor and analyze programme/project development and implementation; review relevant documents and reports; identify problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaise with relevant parties; identify and track follow-up actions. • Participate in the conduct of risk assessments and internal control evaluations, in collaboration with internal and external clients, by planning and facilitating workshops, through other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the action plan the client will use to manage the change. • Research, analyze and present information gathered from diverse sources. • Assist in policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies. • Undertake follow-ups, gather, and verify evidence and manage depositories containing information to respond to audit queries and to demonstrate the implementation of agreed action plans for audit recommendations; design data collection tools; review, analyze and interpret responses, identify problems/issues and prepares conclusions. • Prepare various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, input to audit responses, etc. • Provide substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc. • Participate in the preparation of risk management and internal control training and outreach activities; conduct training workshops, seminars, etc.; make presentations on assigned topics/activities. • Collect and analyze data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. • Performs other duties as required. Two years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable LanguagesFluency in one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat, English or French, (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of the other is desirable.
