Program Officer I – Teacher Engagement and Exchanges
This is a hybrid role that will allow working from home but also require periodic time in our Washington D.C. office.

FHI 360’s Global Connections (GC) department is a leader in designing innovative international exchanges that promote leadership, professional development, academic opportunities and global collaboration for students and emerging leaders around the world. We are seeking a Program Officer I to support the implementation of teacher professional development programs for the English Access Scholarship Program (Access). Funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Office of English Language Programs (ECA/A/L), the Access program provides a foundation of English-language, leadership and professional skills and exposure to U.S. culture and democratic values to bright and underserved students, primary aged 13 to 20, from around the world. The Access Program also offers professional development opportunities for international English as a Foreign Language (EFL) professionals including teachers and administrators.
Job Summary:
The Program Officer I is a member of the Access Teacher Engagement Team reporting to the Program Manager. The Program Officer I will support projects across the Teacher Engagement Team portfolio including Community of Practice (CoP) and in-person and virtual exchange programs. This position also provides opportunities for cross-team collaboration and support with other sub-teams on the Access Program
Responsibilities:
Access Teacher Community of Practice (CoP) and Content Development
Assist with administrative aspects of the CoP, including educator enrollment and verification on the platform, live virtual events, interest communities, participant engagement and digital badging.
Support CoP-related initiatives (e.g., Community Coach program), resource development (e.g., webinar recordings Regional Highlights, Educator Spotlights) and copywriting (e.g., email, platform copy, online communications, etc.).
Assist with CoP participant-related communication and troubleshooting issues.
Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data related to CoP engagement, live virtual event attendance, and educator feedback on instructional materials and practices.
Assist with administrative aspects of consultant contracts and scheduling.
Support the planning and implementation of international teacher training programs with participant and consultant support and logistical arrangements.
Support the administrative, operational and logistical aspects of teacher training programming.
Support travel arrangements for teacher training participants, consultants, and staff, including flights, hotels, and ground transportation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Access Exchanges: Virtual and In-Person
Support the planning and implementation of international exchange programs with participant support and logistical arrangements.
Support the administrative, operational and logistical aspects of exchange programming.
Support travel arrangements for exchange program participants, consultants, and staff including flights, hotels, and ground transportation.
Assist in reviewing, tracking, and reporting on participant application process using the online system.
Assist with participant-related communication and troubleshooting issues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or its international equivalent in International Education, TESOL, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field; TESOL qualification is preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the education sector with background knowledge of non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization processes.
Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, to think strategically and creatively, to find innovative ways to respond to emerging organizational and project needs.
Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills demonstrated by the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Strong communication skills with the ability to connect to a wide range of partners in a clear, positive manner; ability to understand, synthesize, and conceptualize input and requests from multiple collaborators.
Demonstrated ability to work in coordination with colleagues, program participants, and partners.
Capacity to balance multiple priorities, deal with inquiries and requests, and maintain close attention to detail.
Capability of working independently as well as in a team environment by taking initiative, meeting deadlines, solving problems, and adapting to changing priorities.
Strong computer productivity skills including use of databases, word processing software, Microsoft Excel, and SharePoint.

The expected US Based hiring salary range for this role is listed below. Candidates FHI 360 pay ranges represent national averages that vary by geographic location. When determining an offer amount, FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations, including but not limited to: relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant, internal equity, business sector, and budget.
Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 12% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours/week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.
US-Based Hiring Salary Range: $51,000- $65,000
