Expected duration6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe internship is located in the Procurement Unit, General Services Section (GSS), Division for Management at the United Nations Office at Vienna (Austria).The internship is UNPAID and full-time and is valid for six month starting as soon as possible. Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned. Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background, the intern’s assigned team as well as the internship period. Duties may include but are not limited to: - Assignment of at least one special project that the intern will be required to complete during the internship. - Assist in preparing and compiling the necessary documents for the event management tender, including the request for information (RFI). This involves reviewing similar terms of reference templates from other contracts, helping to draft the terms of reference for this tender, and conducting market research to identify potential event management service providers. - Support in coordinated effort among country offices in collecting information on procurement and training needs. - Assist with the development of a training package on procurement. - Support to the Unit in its everyday activities. - Document, legal and internet research related to sourcing of vendors or product research. - Assistance in drafting and preparing official documents including bid evaluations. - Other tasks as necessary. Qualifications/special skills· Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). · Be computer literate in standard software applications; • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in English is required.
