About this position
The Executive Vice President (EVP), as the Chief Operating Officer of the institution and under the guidance of the Board of Executive Directors and the President of the Bank, is responsible for the operation of the Bank and provides day-to-day management oversight of and direction to the Vice Presidents and all other senior staff. The EVP also oversees the quality control and risk management of all Bank operations and serves as chair of all Management committees responsible for the Bank’s operational activities.
You will be part of a dedicated and multidisciplinary team, with a leadership role in operational and corporate matters and with specific responsibilities exercised while working on projects, tasks and activities (operational and corporate) geared to advise the EVP, senior management and the Bank teams in leading critically important issues for the organization.
What you’ll do:
This is an advisor position aimed at supplying knowledge and experience in the strategic management of matters under the purview of the EVP; with emphasis on public-private synergies and the integration of operational and corporate processes.
The scope of activities will relate to the management of the Bank’s strategic planning within the framework of the IDB Group, as well as the monitoring and strategic management of the Bank's project portfolio (covering programming, preparation, execution, and impact evaluation) and the mutual interaction of the aforementioned with the institution's corporate processes (i.e. financial and talent management, audit, and risk management). This includes active participation in projects and monitoring the implementation of cutting-edge innovations, such as the design of market development strategies (especially in the real and financial sectors), comprehensive risk management (SG and NSG), promotion of innovation (management and scaling) or the optimization of the Bank's financial management.
In this context and working independently and with minimal oversight from the Executive Vice President, you will:
Lead the coordination of the corporate and operational aspects at different levels that the organization operates and where the EVP has responsibilities (ie. strategies, programs, projects and financial and non-financial products) Lead EVP’s technical work and tasks regarding corporate and operational aspects for which the office has responsibilities (i.e. strategies, programs, projects, products) Coordinate and contribute to cross-cutting operational and corporate aspects between different business units of the Bank, including the management of alliances within the IDB Group at multiple levels of the organization (Teams, Divisions, Sector and Country Departments, and Vice-presidencies). Lead the revision and provide technical recommendations regarding the authorization of project negotiation and all other matters brought for consideration or review to the EVP and the Operational Policy Committee (OPC). This includes performing technical, sector, and operational performance reviews and working with project teams and other staff on the Bank’s policy compliance and interpretation. Analyze alternatives for policy formulation and postures, providing analytical elements for decisions regarding the Bank’s corporate matters, specific projects or broader operational programs and activities. Lead and perform analytical and operational work to ensure the developmental impact of Bank Group projects, programs, and other engagements at the country or sector level, including the perspective of private sector development and regional integration. Build and maintain networks with other Bank areas to ensure thorough and data-driven decisions of corporate matters (i.e. analysis of processes, systems, talent management and corporate finance). Carry out practical analytical work together with the teams and in response to requests from the Bank's oversight units (OVE, OII, ETH, AUG, MEC among others). Generate knowledge, ensuring that best practices and lessons learned are captured and shared with others. Contribute to the training and development of others and coach/mentor junior staff to build technical expertise.What you'll need:
Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in economics or international development, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in operations and evaluation. Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.Key skills:

International Staff Contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
