UNICEF Supply Division (SD) has identified strengthening national vaccine procurement practices as a key component of its approach to supporting Gavi transitioning and other middle-income countries (MICs) in ensuring sustainable access to and timely supply of affordable vaccines. Included in the scope of procurement capacity needs are procurement activities (for example, market intelligence, analysis, development of procurement strategies, tendering and order management, etc.). To this end, SD Vaccine Center (VC) has been supporting countries by facilitating such learning via multiple projects. This includes hosting the annual Vaccine Procurement Forum (VPF) since 2015. This event, albeit by definition is time-limited, is a unique opportunity to allow procurement practitioners from different countries/regions to network with and learn from peers and to catalyze momentum for future continuous exchanges. In addition, VC established a community of practice in 2016, to further the aims of the VPF by initiating the Vaccine Procurement Practitioners Network (VPPN). The VPPN is a virtual community of practice primarily targeting national stakeholders to provide a platform for continuous exchange of theoretical and practical knowledge, joint learning and collaborative problem solving. Membership in the VPPN has grown over time as a result of a strategy to gradually include interested vaccine procurement practitioners from additional countries, as well as other relevant stakeholders and experts. Closely connected to these activities is the e-learning course on strategic vaccine procurement, which provides procurement professionals the background and necessary building blocks to develop a strategic vaccine approach. All three activities are part of the overall work VC is working on to support countries to strengthen their vaccine procurement processes, ensuring access to affordable, quality assured vaccines for children. To support this effort, the consultant will support increasing visibility of VC’s procurement strengthening work by editing key videos filmed during the 2024 VPFs with key participants.

How can you make a difference? 

The consultant will edit several video interviews conducted and filmed during the two 2024 VPFs into short videos that can be leveraged as key communicational resources for procurement strengthening work through different channels, including the VPPN. A key outcome will be to (a) visualize and edit the video interviews conducted with key government partners during 2024 EAPR VPF, (b) visualize and edit the video interviews conducted with key government partners during 2024 WCAR VPF, (c) edit and develop a compilation of 2024 EAPR VPF videos as well as WCAR VPF above-mentioned videos & (d) visualize and edit the video interviews conducted with three UNICEF staff during 2024 WCAR VPF to enhance impact and visibility of the VPFs as well as the procurement strengthening work.

The consultant will be responsible for ensuring the following deliverables are achieved:

Edit the video interviews conducted with main contributors during 2024 EAP regional VPF and develop a short video that can be leveraged to increase the visibility of the VPF as well as the procurement strengthening work - Timeline 30 November 2024. Edit the video interviews conducted with main contributors during 2024 WCA regional VPF and develop a short video that can be leveraged to increase the visibility of the VPF as well as the procurement strengthening work - Timeline 15 December 2024. Edit 2024 EAP regional VPF interview videos (deliverable 1) as well as WCA regional VPF interview videos (deliverable 2) to develop one video compilation - Timeline 31 January 2025

Exact number of days will be confirmed depending on the number of days to accommodate feedback. The total number of working days can be up to 10 working days.
The exact timeline will be confirmed with the consultant upon onboarding, with the agreement that all the deliverables should be completed within early Q1 2025.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

A university degree in a relevant field: video editing, graphic design, communications, reporting, or similar areas of study. A combination of relevant academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree. A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in writing and editing humanitarian supply assets (reports, case studies, web stories, etc.). Use of creative writing and editing to elevate supply narratives, and create compelling copy is essential. Experience in reporting on emergencies is an advantage. Experience in multi-tasking and managing multiple deadlines on writing and editing for different emergencies, countries, and types of documents. Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws. 

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract.
