The mission of the WHO MTD programme in Solomon Islands is to strengthen local and national capacities to prevent, detect, and respond to malaria and other vector-borne disease risks. The programme focuses on protecting communities at risk of malaria outbreaks and related emergencies by building resilient systems and capabilities that enable timely surveillance, effective case management, and integrated vector control, while reinforcing national ownership and sustainability.
The incumbent will perform all or part of the following, and other related responsibilities as required by the needs of the office.
Facilitate the implementation of projects for the control of MTD, including the procurement of safe, efficacious, and affordable medicines and technologies.
Essential: A university degree (bachelor’s or higher) in medicine, public health, epidemiology, or another medical field.
Desirable: Training or specialization in malaria, vector-borne and neglected tropical diseases.

Essential: A minimum of two years relevant work experience supporting TB, HIV and neglected tropical diseases control programmes at the national level.
Desirable:
- Professional experience providing technical or programme services to national counterparts, Ministries of Health, and other partners on MTD related issues. Relevant work experience, with WHO and/or UN agencies, health cluster partners, non-governmental or humanitarian organizations. Experience in writing proposals and technical reports.
- Relevant work experience supporting malaria, vector-borne diseases.
- Some of the above-listed experience to have been obtained in an international context.
- Experience working with national or provincial Ministry of Health and Medical Services.
-Transmissions, methods of diagnosis, development, and treatment of malaria, vector-borne, and neglected tropical diseases.
-Prevention and control of malaria, vector-borne and neglected tropical diseases.
-District hospital care, universal health coverage, in-service and pre-service training, essential MTD drugs, and primary health care delivery systems.
-Best practices of international organizations in the related disease control areas.
-Knowledge to support the planning, coordination, and implementation of health programme interventions.

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at SBD 223,740 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
