Based on the global reference documents produced by UNESCO ESD Section and IBE, including the Greening Curriculum Guidance and the 10 steps for curriculum alignment and other national (e.g., ESD Country Initiative) or regional resources to be identified in consultation with the Ministries of Education, CSESI project team and education stakeholders in Bangladesh, and under the over all guidance and supervision of the Head of Office, Chief of Education, and Education Programme Officer (CSESI) of UNESCO Dhaka Office along with International Consultants and ESD Section colleagues at UNESCO HQs, the National Consultant will undertake the main tasks of the consultancy as follows:

The consultant will report to UNESCO Dhaka and Headquarters. The ministries of education will provide oversight to the technical work following the indicative timeline below.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment. Ability to work in a digital work environment using multiple office software packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Canva/Photoshop, Adobe), etc. Ability to work in a team and on multi-country research projects will be a strong asset. Ability to facilitate, and coordinate to contextualize, develop, and deliver face-to-face, and/or online orientations, and trainings as part of piloting on curricula, syllabi, education for sustainable development, climate change, disaster risk reduction, and SDG 4.7.1, 12.8.1 and 13.3.1 indicators at the national to global levels. Flexibility to adjust work schedules, priorities, and capacity to multi-tasking and work effectively under pressure.Required qualifications

Education
At least a Master’s degree in curriculum development or other related areas of education.Work experience
Extensive professional knowledge and at least 10 years’ experience in curriculum development at the country or international level. Proven experience (minimum 7 years) in designing research methodology and tools, qualitative and quantitative data collection and data analysis, and synthesizing material of a technical or scientific nature.Skills/competencies
Excellent knowledge on teacher training curricula and training process. Excellent knowledge on the education sector in Bangladesh. Excellent knowledge on education for sustainable development, climate change and disaster risk reduction.Languages
Excellent knowledge (written and spoken) of English and Bangla.
Education
Advanced academic degree, preferably PhD in curriculum development or other fields (preferably education, climate and disaster education, international development, sociology, etc.).Work experience
At least 15 years of progressively responsible relevant work experience with government entities. Experiences with international work environment like UN agencies or INGOs or similar entities will be an added advantage.Skills/competencies
Strong network of partners in the areas of curriculum, education for sustainable development, climate change and disaster risk reduction are added advantage. Familiarity with key concepts and topics in quality inclusive education (notably, gender equality, human rights-based approach, inclusion and diversity). Excellent skills on writing for academic publications and other professional written work, including for a general audience.
