For every child, a voice

Bangladesh continues to host 1,003,394 Rohingya refugees1 from Myanmar in 33 camps in Cox’s Bazar District and Bhasan Char of Noakhali District, 51 per cent of them children. As part of the Rohingya refugee relocation plan by the Government of Bangladesh to Bhasan Char, 35,629 refugees have been relocated to the island as of 31 December 2023. The Rohingya refugee camps are overcrowded and have other physical challenges that limit refugees' access to education, protection, food, water, shelter, and health services. This raises risks of mortality, morbidity and protection violations and affects people's well-being, with women and children continuing to face multiple deprivations and increasing needs. While humanitarian support has decreased in the past year, refugees remain reliant on significant humanitarian assistance, particularly to access essential services.
