Context
IOM Ireland has been operating in Ireland since 2001, currently in following areas of migration management: Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration, Resettlement, Family Reunification, Counter-Trafficking, Protection, Integration Support to Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection, Integrated Immigration Governance and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS).
IOM provides mental health and psychosocial support to international protection seekers residing in the Citywest accommodation facility with the aim to improve their psychosocial well-being and to strengthen their overall resilience.
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission in Ireland, the Head of MHPSS Unit, the Senior Cultural Mediation and Community Engagement Associate, and the direct supervision of the Senior Community Engagement Associate, the incumbent will assist in the implementation of project activities related to sports and physical activities for international protection applicants residing in Citywest accommodation centre.
- Support engagement with residents to encourage participation in sports, exercise, and recreational activities that promote physical and mental well-being; assist in sharing basic information on the benefits of physical activity and healthy living practices during education sessions, campaigns, and informal discussions.
- Assist in carrying out regular sports and other physical activities needs assessment and provide routine support in the delivery of those mostly requested by groups.
- Support the identification and mapping of available sports facilities, equipment, and community resources; collaborate with local partners to optimize use and facilitate inclusive participation.
- Support the organization of both group and individual physical activities based on residents’ interests, abilities, and needs, helping to make accessible and inclusive for all participants.
- Work closely with community focal points, volunteers, and implementing partners to support the coordination of sports and recreational events, providing information and support as needed. Under the guidance of the supervisor, support community outreach activities to engage residents in physical activities.
- Assist with preparing logistic resources needed for the full success of the activities and support their usage and storage.
- Collect basic feedback from participants and stakeholders to help monitor participation levels, flag challenges; maintain activity records and participant lists, summarize and present the necessary information for internal and external reports.
- Support the administrative requirements of the project, working with the MHPSS teams to maintain the day-to-day activities and operations on the ground in line with the project SOPs.
- Participate in routine Monitoring & Evaluation activities as instructed (e.g., data collection, attendance tracking).
- Maintain confidentiality of project-related matters and follow established procedures to help safeguard records and mitigate risks related to data handling.
- Be available to travel between sites as required, prepare short activity notes.

- Bachelor’s degree in Physical/Education, Community Development, Political or Social Sciences or similar from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience; or

- Experience supporting community activities, including working with diverse populations such as migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.
- Experience organising sports/physical activities is required.
- Experience working with State agencies and non-governmental Organisations in Ireland is preferred.
- Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment is an advantage.
- Previous experience with international organizations, NGOs, EU Agencies and/or Irish law enforcements or Government’s Departments would be an asset.Skills
