Your responsibilities
The SY-STI-TCD section is responsible for the conceptual design, construction, operation, and maintenance of beam-intercepting devices across CERN's accelerator complex. These devices are precision mechanical equipment that operate in harsh environments and must be reliable for the successful operation of CERN accelerators.
Are you passionate about mechanical engineering and adept at multitasking? Take part! Join our multidisciplinary team and you will be involved in supporting mechanical dimensioning, design, and project follow-up for the construction of the new ISOLDE facility beam dumps.
Additionally, you will coordinate the production of equipment, schedule assembly, and conduct all necessary mechanical tests prior to installation. You will also contribute to mechanical support activities within the accelerator complex and the operation of our team's mechanical workshop.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the 3D integration of future beam dumps using CATIA, with the support of designers and integratorsCoordinate the production of production drawingsManage material procurement to produce three beam dumps, demonstrating a strong understanding of industrial processesCollaborate closely with the Project Manager responsible for the beam dumps to monitor production and assembly progressesPerform the installation of beam dumps in the accelerator facility and conduct on-line commissioning tests to ensure operational readinessProvide mechanical support for activities within the accelerator complex and assist in the operation of the mechanical workshopMore information here: https://cerncourier.com/a/intercepting-the-beams/

A qualification in Mechanical, Aerospace or Nuclear EngineeringDemonstrated experience in systems engineering, integration completed by in field testsCAD systems, 3D and 2D drawingAssembling, and testing precision mechanicsGood communication, well-organized with accountabilityWorking in a team, as well as independentlyAbility to collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary teamsFluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantageEligibility criteria:
You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.Applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree are not eligible.Job closing date: 16th of November at 23:59 (midnight) CET.
