    RESPONSIBILITES:

    In collaboration with Supply Chain, Program and RAM and under the direct supervision of the Head of Area Office (AO), the incumbent will be responsible for the design and the implementation of the Cox Bazar market development workplan, managing and developing Cox Bazar AO market development strategy. The implementation of this role will require coordinating the efforts from different functional units, such as program, supply chain and RAM. The incumbent while reporting directly to the Head of Area Office will be expected to establish conducive working relations with the teams from the mentioned functional units and coordinate with other stakeholders operating in Cox Bazar.

    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • The successful implementation of the Market development plan and the achievement of WFP commitments in market development in Cox Bazar.
    • Develop and implement market development strategies aligned with WFP's goals and objectives.
    • Create actionable plans to improve market access for smallholder farmers and local producers.
    • Lead the implementation of the Cox's Bazar market development workplan, ensuring timely achievement of deliverables.
    • Establish metrics to evaluate the impact of market development activities and provide regular progress reports.
    • Collaborate with local governments, NGOs, and community organizations to support market development initiatives.
    • Build and maintain partnerships with suppliers, beneficiaries, and other key stakeholders.
    • Design and deliver training programs for stakeholders on market systems and development activities.
    • Support smallholder farmers and cooperatives in improving production and marketing techniques.
    • Identify funding opportunities and assist in developing proposals to secure resources for market development initiatives.
    • Align resource mobilization efforts with WFP's Country Strategic Plan (CSP) priorities.
    • Advocate for policies that promote market access and fair trade for smallholder farmers.
    • Engage with policymakers to influence decisions enhancing food security.
    • Research innovative solutions to improve market systems and recommend their adoption.
    • Document and share best practices and lessons learned to inform future activities.
    • Collaborate with WFP operational teams to integrate market development activities within broader programmatic efforts.
    • Ensure alignment with WFP’s mission and objectives in all activities.

      Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience with a minimum 5+ years of professional experience in the areas of humanitarian, development and other relevant operations/programmes.

      Education: Advanced University degree in Economics, Agriculture, Social Sciences, or related fields, or a First University degree with additional years of relevant experience.
      Language: Fluency in both written and oral communication in English.
