The Position:

Papua New Guinea is among the most disaster-prone countries in the world; hazards include earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, droughts, flooding and associated disease outbreaks. Vulnerabilities are compounded by environmental and social factors such as tribal fighting, rapid population growth, urbanisation, land degradation and climate change. UNFPA priorities in Papua New Guinea include disaster preparedness, awareness raising on sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender-based violence, and capacity strengthening of health workers. UNFPA’s Asia-Pacific Regional Office manages the Regional Prepositioning Initiative (RPI) in partnership with the Government of Australia, a flagship program to strengthen preparedness and build resilience in PNG. In order to quickly respond to disasters and humanitarian crises in PNG, the UNFPA country office stores the humanitarian supplies in Lae Area Medical Store.

Job Purpose:

The Lae AMS humanitarian supply TA will provide technical support to Lae AMS in storage , distribution and reporting of RPI supplies and other reproductive health commodities and support the strengthening of supply chain management systems and last-mile assurance of humanitarian supplies

You would be responsible for:

Provide technical support to AMS in stock management, inventory, distribution, and reporting of RPI humanitarian supply and RH life-saving commodities. Monitor the stock status of RPI humanitarian supply at AMS and proactively report the stock situation to UNFPA. Report to UNFPA on near expiry commodities and ensure that all supplies are distributed under the FEFO standard. Support humanitarian supply chain management training at provincial levels. Provide technical support to AMS in the collection, analysis, and quality assurance of eLMIS data and reports focusing on RPI supplies and share the findings with UNFPA country office humanitarian coordinator. Conduct field supportive supervision and monitoring visits to ensure Last Mile Assurance of RPI supplies. Perform other functions as directed by the Humanitarian Coordinator at UNFPA PNG, including spot checks.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

First degree in pharmacy, nursing or related health supply chain field.

Knowledge and Experience:

Knowledge: supply chain management: warehousing, distribution, storekeeping, inventory control, and pharmacy recordkeeping, Experience: At least one year’ of professional experience, preferably in pharmacy /logistics management in the public sector and Familiarity with PNG health system is an added advantage. Computer skills: Proficiency in current office software applications and data entry in databases. Availability to travel frequently to districts and remote health facilities

Prepare and implement monthly activity plans. Acquit for all expenses within 1 week of return. Be able to recommend sound solutions and recommendations of issues / challenges identified. Provide monthly reports on RPI supplies to the UNFPA country office Humanitarian coordinator.
