About this position

Are you an experienced capacity building professional passionate about creating engaging and impactful online learning experiences? We are the training institute of a leading multilateral bank dedicated to empowering individuals through education, and we are seeking a dedicated capacity building professional with expertise in developing Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) focused on social and economic topics.

You will work in the Inter-American Institute for Economic and Social Development (INDES), part of the Knowledge, Innovation, and Communication Sector (KIC). This team’s mission is to increase knowledge and strengthen skills of target audiences in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as of IDB employees, in order to promote economic and social development in the region.

What you’ll do:

Collaborate with subject matter experts, content developers, and multimedia specialists to design and develop MOOCs on various social and economic topics.
Conduct thorough needs assessments and analyze target audiences to determine instructional goals, content structure, and learning objectives.
Design and organize course materials, including assessments, activities, and multimedia resources, to ensure learner engagement and knowledge retention.
Apply instructional design principles and best practices to create interactive and learner-centered online courses.
Conduct regular evaluations and assessments of courses to identify areas for improvement and make necessary updates.
Provide high-level advice in the conceptualization, preparation, and implementation of learning programs, both within the KIC team and with teams of other departments within the IDB.
Lead the preparation of case studies, development of learning assessments and rubrics, as well as other instructional materials to create an effective learning experience.
Promote partnerships with public institutions and universities to design and develop learning programs.
Collaborate with external partners, organizations, and IDB experts to develop partnerships for the development of MOOCs.
Collaborate in grant writing and proposal development to secure funding from different sources for MOOC development projects.
Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in instructional design and online learning to enhance course quality and learning effectiveness.

What you'll need

Education: You hold a master's degree in Social Sciences, Adult Education, Instructional Design, Psychology, or a related field. It is a plus to hold a certification in e-learning or lifelong learning.
Experience: At least 7 years of professional experience, of which at least 5 years of proven experience in capacity building, specifically in developing MOOCs focused on social and economic topics.
Proficient in using e-learning authoring tools and in the use of learning management systems or MOOC platforms (e.g., Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, Coursera, edX).
Solid knowledge of project management principles and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is a plus.

Requirement

Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents. Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
