About this position
We are looking for a strategic, highly motivated, and experienced knowledge management expert to join our team as a Learning & Knowledge Senior/Lead Specialist. In this role, you will spearhead initiatives that advance knowledge management practices across the IDB Group, with a focus on leveraging digital solutions and tools to enhance impactful knowledge collection, systematization, sharing and re-use.
You will work in the Knowledge and Learning Division, in the Knowledge, Innovation and Communication department (KIC/KLD). The KLD team provides clients with guidance and tools to capture, generate, manage, and use knowledge, and support the planning and development of learning products.
What you’ll do:
Develop and implement a knowledge management framework, ensuring the integration of best practices across the IDB Group. In line with our Institutional Strategy, this Framework should help to position knowledge as a critical means to enhance development impact. Lead the design and implementation of innovative knowledge products to support development impact, including the integration of new technologies like Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) into our knowledge management initiatives. Lead the strategic planning of knowledge agendas, providing methodological advice to VPS, VPC, IDB Lab, and IDB Invest. Ensure that these agendas are fully aligned with the organization’s strategic priorities while maximizing the use of digital solutions for seamless knowledge sharing and collaboration. This includes anticipating future knowledge gaps, identifying emerging trends, and fostering a culture of continuous learning. Develop and promote cutting-edge knowledge initiatives, ensuring that the IDB Group remains at the forefront of knowledge management trends by integrating tools, and methodologies into every aspect of our work. Monitor and evaluate the impact of knowledge management initiatives, using data-driven insights to refine strategies and enhance effectiveness. Recommend strategies and incentives to use the IDB Group’s knowledge resources, to advance the knowledge frontier more systematically, apply rigorous analysis to address knowledge gaps faced by clients and stakeholders, and develop operational knowledge to improve the design and implementation of operations. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to build partnerships that enhance the organization’s knowledge assets and capabilities. Represent the IDB at external networks of knowledge management experts, actively engaging in digital communities of practice within multilateral organizations. Share insights and best practices to contribute to the global knowledge management landscape. Apply change management principles to drive innovations and behavioral change through knowledge management interventions. Demonstrate successful cases of knowledge adoption and measurable impact within the organization. Mentor junior team members, fostering collaboration and innovation. Enhancetheir understanding of knowledge management best practices and digital strategies, equipping them to contribute effectively to the IDB’s knowledge management goals. Generate, systematize, and share knowledge, experiences, and recommendations on methodological approaches and technical expertise. Education: Master’s degree in Knowledge Management, Information Science, Organizational Development, Information Systems, Digital Technologies, Innovation or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in leading knowledge initiatives, and engaging stakeholders within complex organizations. Experience in digital transformation, data analytics, or implementing digital solutions with GenAI is highly desirable. Experience in the IDB’s project cycle as a team leader or member is a plus. Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.Key skills
