About this position
The Knowledge and Learning Division (KLD) provides clients with guidance and tools to capture, generate, manage, and use knowledge, and support the planning and development of learning products.
We are looking for a dynamic, data-minded, upbeat professional to join the Knowledge and Learning Division as a Knowledge and Learning Specialist/Senior Associate. This role will be all about Data and Technology for Knowledge Management. You will be challenged to use your knowledge for coordinating projects and to apply your hands-on technical abilities for data analysis and advising on technical processes, and you should have a proactive demeanor towards information dissemination, access, and discovery.
You will work in the Knowledge and Learning Division, supporting both the Knowledge Management and Felipe Herrera Library Teams in complementary efforts to ensure that relevant operational and analytical knowledge is widely available to be used, shared, and built upon. These teams work together to promote the symbiotic relationship between analytical and operational knowledge. We are a Division of seasoned professionals working to support the IDB’s ambitious objectives to become the premier institution for knowledge production in the Region, to incorporate external frontier knowledge into operational processes, and to leverage knowledge as a critical means to enhance our development impact.
What you’ll do:
Use your client service skills to act as responsible focal point for system and data interoperability to support knowledge management processes for KLD division to better serve all IDB personnel. Apply your knowledge of data interoperability to supervise and ensure reliable data flows between all systems related to knowledge management products and services, including the Knowledge Platform (internal digital solution under design). Use your technical knowledge to advise on the use of data and technological approaches in the context of addressing knowledge management challenges. Use your understanding of taxonomy and ontology, and your understanding of natural language processing (NLP) techniques, to coordinate the classification of analytical and operational knowledge assets. Coordinate with our Information Technology Department and with external vendors related to the acquisition of technologies and provision of services that support the knowledge management ecosystem at the IDB. Apply your advanced critical thinking and communication skills to analyze complex business processes, including the systematization of lessons learned, as needed and recommend simplified, quality solutions/enhancements to problems identified via troubleshooting, user feedback, and testing.What you'll need
Education: Master’s Degree or equivalent in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology, Library Science, or other related technical area
Experience:
At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in the following areas: requirements definition and documentation cleaning data, transforming data, and analyzing data technology platform development, deployment, and/or management strong proficiency with Python and/or other programming languages used for working with data and text ability to extract and manipulate data from multiple sources (databases, platforms, tables, APIs, etc.) experience working with metadata standards and/or taxonomy implementations knowledge management methodologies and/or standards experience working with LLMs, and/or generative AI powered processes and platforms understanding of core AI/ML and NLP concepts, and ability to communicate them conceptually project managementLanguages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.
