Project Context and Scope
  IOM Bangladesh, established in 1998, supports the Government of Bangladesh in migration management, humanitarian assistance, and safe, orderly, and regular migration. The largest intervention is in Cox’s Bazar, supporting the Rohingya population in shelter, site management, WASH, health, and communications. To ensure effective communication and knowledge sharing, IOM intends to create a pool of interpreters to provide accurate and high-quality interpretation and translation services.
  Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing
  Resettlement Movement Management (RMM), Cox’s Bazar. Tasks to be performed under this contract
  • Provide accurate and faithful interpretation during interviews, meetings, and discussions.  • Deliver high-quality translations of reports, communications, and knowledge products.  • Revise deliverables as per feedback from IOM.  • Provide consecutive interpretation as required.  • Ensure all translations and interpretations use standard, accurate, and professional language.   Performance indicators for the evaluation of results
  • Accuracy and clarity of interpretation and translation.  • Timely delivery of translated documents.  • Responsiveness to feedback and revisions.  • Demonstrated professionalism in all assignments. Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field. Experience
    • Minimum 2 years’ practical experience as an Interpreter.   Skills
      • Ability to provide high-quality, clear, and faithful interpretation.
      • Capacity to work under pressure in a multicultural environment. 
      • Strong discipline, teamwork, and professionalism. Languages
        • Excellent command of English, Bengali, and Rohingya languages (oral and written). 
        • A third language is an added advantage. IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish. Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.   Travel required
