Work LocationGeneva Expected duration3 months with possibility of extension for an extra period of 3 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe intern shall support the Dynamic Knowledge and Library Team in fulfilling its duties: to provide quality information and knowledge services and to be an effective gateway to information and knowledge in the area of human rights and, more specifically, of the work of the United Nations in the area of human rights. The intern will support the development of a new platform, the Human Rights Knowledge Gateway, where thematic knowledge hubs will be hosted, contributing to research work related to the new Hubs. In addition, the intern will contribute to the development of content and resources for the new OHCHR intranet and knowledge hub. In general, daily responsibilities of interns supporting the DK-Library Team will depend on the individual's background and specific duties may include but are not limited to: Assist in the production of knowledge sharing materials and activities, (such as Videos, tutorials, Website editing and Library guides, Communication campaigns and Knowledge retention and Knowledge dissemination initiatives), Assist in library duties as needed, including Research and reference queries, Cataloguing and indexing, Digitization and management of data, Collection development, and support to the organization and implementation of Outreach activities. Assist in other duties as requested by the supervisor (data management, document processing, organization of events). This Job Opening is intended to recruit two intern positions. Qualifications/special skillsTo qualify for the United Nations Secretariat Internship Programme, applicants must, at the time of application, be enrolled in a graduate school programme (i.e. Master's degree or equivalent degree, or higher) or in the final academic year of a first-level university degree programme (i.e. Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree) in the areas of library science, information science, knowledge management and/or a human rights, law or international relations related field, OR have graduated with a university as defined above in one of those study fields AND, if selected, must commence the internship within one year period from the date of graduation. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language - Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish – is an asset.
