The consultant will perform the following activities: · Design the cover and layout for materials under the Friends in Focus programme. Delivery to include print and digital ready versions with available translations (in coordination with regional/field offices), taking into consideration file size for online versions, as well as instructions for print for print vendors. · Produce and support the Youth Forum to include website, magazine, report, videos, digital and print materials, social media graphics, and delivery of the Youth Forum. · Support the UNODC Prevention team and Youth Initiative through regular meetings, communications materials and other strategic activities, including videography, video editing, motion and still graphics, magazine and other print materials. · Maintain monthly design elements and materials related to websites, forums, magazines, videos, motion graphics and social media graphics in the shared UNODC file. · Update design templates created using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and any other program accessible by the staff for future editing, adaptation, and amendments. · Work with UNODC on the PTRS websites to produce and maintain creative and compelling visual web content that is consistent in style, fonts, images and tone, in the following capacity: o Update and consolidate existing PTRS websites for PTRS, Prevention, Youth Initiative, children and adolescents and others as needed working within the Web Content management system (building block system) as created and used by the UNOV/UNODC ITS team to 1) create and edit pages within the existing framework of the United Nations web design guidelines, 2) upload images and files as identified by the PTRS staff, 3) Upload and embed videos as requested by the PTRS staff, 4) limit the design process to appropriate authoring tools and necessary programming language for security reasons, 5) ensure multiple browser support is certain, and 6) ensure an accurate and manageable way to retrieve web statistics such as hits and downloads. Qualifications/special skillsAn advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Graphic Design, Architectural Science, Visual Arts or related fields is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. At least 7 years of experience in the field of communications, web design, illustrations, and graphic design is required; Proficient knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign is required. - Experience in visual design, including the conceptualization, creation and adaptation of illustrations into various thematic, and a willingness to reiterate ideas according to feedback is required; Ability to produce creative layouts is required. - Experience in the development of website design; Experience in developing UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look like is required; Experience working with CMS, particularly with respect to page template design, and training non-technical staff in their use is required. - Experience and ability to work independently and meet deadlines, in an international and multicultural environment is desirable; Languages- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
