Work LocationHome based, with travel to Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bangladesh Expected duration3 Oct - 13 Dec 2025 Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the overall supervision of the Head of GMCP and the direct supervision and coordination with the UNODC GMCP Regional Programme Coordinator Indian Ocean East, the expert will perform the following tasks: • Delivery of one PVST course in Sri Lanka; • Delivery of three PVST courses in Maldives; • Delivery of two PVST course in Bangladesh; • Delivery of one VBSS CSI course in Sri Lanka; • Delivery of one VBSS Evidence Handling course in Bangladesh; Qualifications/special skillsAn advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in criminal justice, criminology, law, political science, management or other related fields is required. A first-level university degree in the aforementioned fields in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying work experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Formal qualifications or certifications from a recognised national or international customs authority, police academy, or military-training institution, supplemented by specialization in criminal justice, crime prevention, or law enforcement, in combination with four (4) additional years of qualifying work experience, may be accepted in lieu of the first level university degree. At least seven (07) years of experience as a boat operator, with specific experience on navigation, is required. Maritime/riverine working experience is required. Experience training maritime/riverine law enforcement officers with training in an international environment is required. Proven report writing skills are required. A broad understanding of the maritime situation in the Indian Ocean is desirable Experience working in South Asia is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required.
