Position Title: Internal Medicine Specialist Duty station: Botsabelo Hospital, Maseru Lesotho Reports to: Chief Medical Officer Position Overview PIH Lesotho seeks an experienced Internal Medicine Specialist to support the PIHL supported health facilities. They will assist with prevention, diagnosis and treatment of internal diseases as well as managing comorbidities. PIHL has been consciously working to provide a high quality and dignified health services in Lesotho. Job Description Responsibilities include but are not limited to: · Ensure quality of treatment, and care to MDRTB patients at hospital and community levels based on national and international treatment guidelines · Provide day-to-day high quality patients’ care for inpatients and out patients. · Conduct daily ward round to review patients’ management and progress · Serve as a clinical consultant to PIH Lesotho supported health facilities including providing night on call services to patients · Support and participate in all trainings organized by PIH-Lesotho for the health care workers within the country and from other countries · Lead the development and implementation of clinical trainings for the PIHL · Lead the formalization of the PIHL training curriculum · Lead the development of national protocols and guidelines on infectious diseases patient management · Assist in developing a policy and strategy guidelines Administrative & leadership · Work with leadership from PIHL and training health care workers including doctors and nurses across PIHL supported health facilities · Provide technical support to the MOH in the clinical care technical working group · Provide additional accompaniment to MoH in support of national clinical care improvement initiatives whenever it is needed · Demonstrate leadership skills in problem solving, decision-making, priority setting, and effective delegation and communication Qualifications • Medicine degree from fully accredited institution • Postgraduate training in in internal medicine speciality · Experience in managing patients with MDR/XDR TB and complex comorbid conditions · Experience in providing Technical Assistance to the Ministries of Health on development of guidelines, Policies and Strategies • Experience in health systems strengthening in rural and/or resource-limited settings • Demonstrated ability for teaching and mentorship, including experience organizing and leading clinical trainings. • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English • Ability to generate documents (e.g. reports, grants, training materials) on a deadline • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across cultures with respect and humility • Personal and professional commitment to social justice Partners In Health (PIH) is committed to the fundamental principle of equal opportunity and equal treatment for every prospective and current employee.
