Work LocationHybrid (Onsite at Bangkok Office) Expected duration2 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe UN Secretary-General launched on 1 January 2019 a bold and new global reform which repositioned the UN Development System to deliver more effectively and efficiently with the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. As part of this reform, UN Resident Coordinator Offices (UN RCO), under the leadership of an empowered and independent UN Resident Coordinator - the highest-ranking official of the UN Development System and Representative of the UN Secretary-General at country level -support countries in the achievement of their development priorities and the attainment of the SDGs. This unpaid internship is in the United Nation Resident Coordinator Office (RCO) in Thailand, full-time for the duration of 2-6 months. The intern works five days per week (35 hours). This intern will report to the RCO Head of Office, in coordination with RCO’s communication priorities. The intern will gain first-hand experience regarding the activities of the UN Country Team through the RCO team in public outreach, digital communications and advocacy, to enhance UN contributions and range of activities in Thailand. The intern will play a key role in curating and managing UN Thailand's digital assets library, including the Flickr Account and YouTube channel, to enhance visibility and engagement. They will capture and document UN Thailand events, leadership presence, and high-level engagements, ensuring high-quality photographic content. The intern will collaborate with UN agencies to develop innovative storytelling approaches through photos, generate creative ideas, and contribute to the UN 80th anniversary campaign and signature exhibitions. This internship will provide hands-on experience in digital asset management, creative development, and photography within an international organization. Responsibilities: The following are foreseen internship deliverables by the successful candidate: 1) Curate UN Thailand's Digital Assets Library • Maintain regular oversight of the UN Thailand digital assets library, primarily the UN Thailand Flickr Account, by processing new photos for upload, streamlining captions, photo credits, geotags, and keywords for SEO optimization. • Help plan, test, and execute strategies to grow the UN Thailand YouTube channel, revitalize video content, and increase its visibility. • Execute cross-platform utilization and linking of UN Thailand’s digital channels (website, social media, and YouTube) to ensure optimal reach and engagement. 2) Provide Coverage of UN Thailand Events and Leadership Presence • Capture key moments at UN Thailand events, including high-level meetings, speaking engagements, and bilaterals, while recommending best photographic practices to highlight the impact of UN projects and leadership presence. • Take professional photos of the UN Thailand leadership team. 3) Coordinate with UN Agencies for Creative Development and Photo Curation • Collaborate with UN agencies on photo selection, developing innovative storytelling approaches through photos, and building coverage plans to document UN projects, leadership presence, and impactful moments in Thailand. • Compile ready-to-use visual assets for the UN 80th anniversary communications campaign, signature exhibitions, and events. Qualifications/special skillsTo qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter and backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or equivalent. Basic knowledge of social media platforms and tools for optimizing visual content. A keen eye for detail, creativity, and the ability to work under tight deadlines. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
