Background:

The work of the Programme Office in Bishkek focuses on a range of security issues including countering terrorism, border security and transnational threats such as human trafficking, to developing the country’s regions, strengthening efforts to combat corruption on all levels, as well as supporting the reform of the justice sector, implementation of election reform, gender equality and building open and resilient societies.

The Police Project Implementation Unit works within the Politico-Military Department of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek. The Unit engages in project work on strengthening law enforcement reforms measures.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Under the overall supervision of the Programme Associates, the successful candidate will be tasked with the following duties:

Work closely with the project team to monitor and coordinate programmatic activities, ensuring alignment with the objectives of the Projects; Assist in reviewing and editing project proposals, reports and other programmatic documents; Support the preparation and implementation of key meetings, including internal and external coordination events and assist with necessary follow-up actions; Provide assistance to project staff in the development, monitoring and evaluation of project activities, including data collection and analysis for informed decision-making; Draft official correspondence, including invitations, thank-you letters and Note Verbales, ensuring professionalism and accuracy; Attend internal and external meetings, take minutes and support the timely execution of related tasks; Help to organize and maintain project files and archives for effective documentation and easy retrieval; Translate materials as needed, working with texts in Russian, English, and Kyrgyz languages to support communication and documentation needs; Perform any other work-related duties as required, contributing to the effective implementation of joint activities with the Ministry of Interior and project partners.

Necessary Qualifications:

Be between 19 and 30 years old and have completed two years of full-time studies from an accredited institution or have completed a first or advanced degree in a field relevant to the OSCE’s mandate; Citizenship of or permanent residence in Kyrgyz Republic; Studies in an academic field related to the OSCE portfolio; Professional interest in security issues such as combatting organized crime and illicit drug trafficking; Knowledge of the Central Asian region and its societal/political processes is highly desirable; Professional fluency in English and local languages (Russian or Kyrgyz) with excellent communication (both oral and written) skills; Good organizational skills with ability to process and classify information quickly and efficiently; Strong analytical, research and drafting skills; Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities; Ability and willingness to work as a member of team, with people of different cultural, and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity; Computer literate with practical experience using Microsoft applications.

Remuneration Package:

The OSCE does not pay any remuneration or cover any expenses incurred by the intern during his/her internship nor reimburse travel expenses. The selected intern may participate in the group health insurance scheme at his/her own expense, but the OSCE will cover life and accident/disability insurance. If the intern opts to arrange his/her own medical coverage, he/she shall provide evidence of medical coverage for the duty station he/she applies to and for any eventual duty trip destinations. The internship does not constitute a commitment to future employment with the OSCE.
