Work LocationPRISTINA Expected duration3 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis internship is located within the Office of the Chief of Staff in the United Nations Mission in Kosovo. The incumbent will report directly to the Mission Planning Officer within the Office of the Chief of Staff. The objective of this internship is to contribute directly to discharging the responsibilities of the Office of the Chief of Staff among which include – 1. Effective functioning of mission-wide integrated procedures and systems for information analysis and management. 2. Enhance mission strategic and operational planning. More specifically, the intern will support the preparation of different plans for the next financial year, and contribute towards the Mission’s performance monitoring, specifically in relation to operational impact assessments. The start date for the internship will be in June 2026. The duration of the internship will be for an initial period of 3 months with the possibility of renewal for a further 3 months. The intern will also contribute towards other areas of work including strengthening the link between the Mission’s programmatic activities and CPAS, and other data collection tasks. Expected Benefits 1. Develop an understanding/some knowledge of how the UN plans and monitors the implementation of its mandate. 2. Develop an understanding of information/data management systems in a United Nations peacekeeping operation. Duties include: Contribution towards the preparation of different draft plans for the next financial year including: 1. Compiling inputs received from different offices for the draft 2027-2028 Travel and Training Plan. 2. Compiling information received from different offices on proposed RBB outputs and indicators for 2027-2028 and liaise with them on potential adjustments based on the outcomes of the previous budget performance report. 3. Work with the Mission Planning Officer to finalize the other sections of the draft document for 2027-2028. Contribution towards the Mission’s performance monitoring and related reports 1. Assist with the collection and review of all final project reports of the Mission’s programmatic activities which were implemented in FY 2025-26 and produce a summary of the main achievements. 2. Assist the programmatic activities focal point in comparing the final project reports to agreed project proposals, M&E frameworks, and MoU deadlines, and subsequently liaising with relevant substantive offices. 3. Assist with the finalization of the annual performance report of the RBB outputs and indicators. 4. Assist with the finalization of the SRSG’s Compact Performance Report. 5. Assist with the finalization of the programmatic activities’ annual performance report which is prepared as an Annex. Contribution towards the implementation of the Comprehensive Planning and Performance Assessment System 1. Assist with clearing the backlog of Recommendations within the Mission’s Comprehensive Planning and Performance Assessment System by compiling status updates on the implementation of Recommendations. 2. Assist with monitoring the implementation of CPAS Impact and Outcome Indicators. Other tasks 1. Work with relevant offices with the goal of assisting with the collection and disaggregation of pertinent data from the Mission’s programmatic activities such as statistics on the number of communities/women/youth/municipalities which benefitted/participated in specific projects, including the development of a monthly Power BI to display such statistics. 2. Assist with reviewing relevant guidelines and SOPs by performing background research to provide the team with possible solutions. 3. Perform any other tasks as directed by the Mission Planning Officer. Qualifications/special skillsKnowledge of Microsoft Excel is desirable. Knowledge of project management is desirable.
