Work LocationUNHQ Expected duration2-6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis internship is in the Division for Inclusive Social Development (DISD), Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA). The Division seeks to strengthen international cooperation for social development, and particularly in the areas of poverty eradication, productive employment and decent work, sport for development and peace as well as the social inclusion of older persons, youth, family, persons with disabilities, Indigenous peoples, and persons marginalized from society and development. The intern will work under the supervision of and report to the Social Affairs Officer in the Sport for Development and Peace team – Office of the Director. The intern will contribute to research, communication, and the development of knowledge products on topics related to sport for development and peace, such as the digital transition, social protection, food security, poverty alleviation, health, quality education, decent work, sustainable communities, climate action, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Tasks may include, but are not limited to: • Contribute to preparations for the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace and for World Football Day. • Provide support to the team during intergovernmental meetings, as required. • Conduct research and analysis to inform the Secretary-General’s report on Sport for Development and Peace. • Assist with drafting social media messaging and provide communications support to the Office of the Director, as needed. • Support website content management and help develop digital media assets. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D.
