Information Technology Business Partner for Sectors – Senior Associate

The Information Technology Department (ITE) is the focal point for all IT services (infrastructure and applications), architecture, policies, and security at Headquarters and Country Offices. It is also responsible for formulating the Bank’s IT Strategy, implementing it, and providing related tools, solutions, and services.

The Sectors Business Partner unit (ITE\\IPS) has a primary role in creating and fostering a relationship with the Bank’s Sectors, identifying opportunities where IT innovations/solutions can be applied to projects delivered by the Bank.

About this position

We are looking for a motivated, proactive, and client-centric ITE Business Partner for Sectors with proven expertise in the delivery of business and technology solutions and services, that add value to our clients’ strategic priorities.

You will work in the Sectors Business Partner unit (ITE\\IPS) part of the Information Technology Department (ITE). As an IT Business Partner for Sectors, you will serve as a liaison for Operations teams, Management, Digital Advisors, Clients from countries in the region, and the Bank’s Headquarters, supporting and providing advisory services, identifying opportunities, and collaborating to develop and applying purposeful technologies in Sectorial projects and corporate initiatives. The selected candidate should aim to enable sectorial teams to better perform their business objectives by using technological solutions in alignment with ITE guidelines and IDB’s institutional strategy and by supporting technology adoption through key technology-based operations.

What you’ll do:

Act as a trusted advisor to Business Units and a liaison to the ITE Department and external vendors by identifying and clarifying needs and challenges. Develop and implement sound recommendations for adopting and/or optimal use of existing IT tools, services, and vendors that support operational and corporate processes, anticipating gaps and overlaps. Assist the business with the development of business case and prioritization actively promoting best practices and tending to corporate needs of sectors developing business cases and prioritization, actively promoting best practices and tending to the corporate needs of sectors, and serve as a liaison with the rest of VPF to address and tackle corporate challenges. Manage demand and attend to internal customer needs, guiding the sector in terms of technology components. Provide technical guidance and work internally with ITE, business areas, and external parties to drive solutions, proactively identifying, managing, and resolving coordination challenges with business units and other ITE functions. Identify, screen, and evaluate new solution opportunities or use cases for current ITE tools to address internal and external client needs. Understand, recommend, and apply new and innovative business processes and technologies to meet the strategic needs of the VP, Departments, and Units while ensuring compatibility with the Bank’s existing applications, infrastructure, and security requirements. Define project plans, milestones, and implementation processes meeting deadlines established by the sector.

What you'll need

Education: Master's degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, or other fields relevant to the role’s responsibilities. Experience: At least five years of progressive experience delivering technology-based business services and solutions. Experience with project management, software development cycle, technology architecture, data management, data processing, BA/BI, design, and integrations of technological solutions. Ability to facilitate dialogue by bridging the gap between technology and its operational applications. Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Type of contract and duration

International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
