CIMMYT is looking for an outstanding, self-motivated, and result-oriented professional for the position of Graphic Designer, to execute the creative concepting and design of assigned projects, such as publications, presentations, posters, banners, brochures, and other materials, print and electronic, with creativity and accepted modern style while adhering to the established quality and production guidelines.

 

The location of this position will be at CIMMYT's headquarters in Texcoco, Mexico.

 

Specific duties:

Strategy

Execute operational plan aligned with CIMMYT\u2019s mission, vision, and strategic goals to build reputation and maximize the policy and development impact of its research across the main target regions Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Maintain brand guide updated for internal guidance related to branding. Stay up to date with multimedia trends, techniques, and technologies to continuously improve the quality and impact of CIMMYT's visual content. Research and analyze design software to match artwork to appropriate programs, creating greater efficiency in the execution of the assigned projects.

 

Creative Hub

Design and lead the production process of printed and electronic publications, including creating graphic content for digital/web-based products and graphic content for videos or other multimedia products, artwork for annual reports, brochures, posters, displays, folders, flyers, certificates, brochures, invitations, and other printed material as needed. Design PowerPoint, Presi or other presentations for scientists, applying pre-determined brand standards. Create graphic design materials to support execution of internal and external events as needed. Create/recreate illustrations such as photo illustrations, charts, graphs, maps and drawings for publications and scientific articles to be published.

 

Media Relations

Support Media Relations activities with graphic design materials as needed.

Social & Digital Communications

Produce graphic design materials for Social & Digital strategies/campaigns as needed. Participate in the design of web pages and create images, animations, and special effects for various websites.

Internal Communications

Design new, innovative graphics and creative proposals for the various CIMMYT websites and pages of Inside CIMMYT. Produce graphic design materials for Internal Communications strategies/campaigns as needed.

Executive Communications

Produce graphic design materials for Executive Communications strategies/campaigns as needed.

 

Regional Communications

Support Regional Communications Staff to produce graphic design material for CIMMYT's events or meetings in the regions.

Administration

Negotiate printer prices, prepare internal quotes for printing, and verify that the printing equipment is the right choice for the project. Ensure that vendor purchase orders are processed quickly and correctly. Execute an individual annual plan to ensure objectives and targets are accomplished, managing multiple multimedia projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and meeting stakeholder expectations. Manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines. This includes developing and executing design projects from planning, scheduling, and resource allocation. Adhere to CIMMYT\u2019s stated values and behaviors to promote CIMMYT\u2019s culture within Comms department.

Requirements

Bachelor\u2019s degree in graphic design, communication design, or a related field. 4 or 5 years of experience in graphic design. Strong portfolio of design work (critical for assessment). Use of design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva Pro, etc.). Proficiency in digital content management systems, social media platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite. Previous work with global clients will be a plus. Experience in nonprofit or international development contexts can be a plus. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines effectively. Exceptional written and verbal English skills, with the ability to understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics. Interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interactions with native speakers. Produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue (B2). The selected candidate should exhibit the following competencies: Client Orientation, Critical and Creative Thinking, Teamwork, and Communication.
