The mission of the CTCN is to enhance the development and transfer of climate technologies for developing countries as they seek to achieve their commitments under the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals. The CTCN assists developing country Parties at their request, building or strengthening their capacity to prepare and implement climate technology projects that span the technology transfer continuum. The CTCN supports public and private sector action on mitigation and adaptation, enhancing low-carbon and climate-resilient development in a manner consistent with the capabilities and priorities of recipient countries. Among its key services, the Centre provides tailored technology solutions, capacity building and knowledge sharing. The CTCN works under the guidance of the CTCN’s Advisory Board, this body provides essential strategic guidance and oversight, ensuring that the CTCN's activities align with the mandate it was given by the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the UNFCCC. Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, the CTCN Secretariat: • Ensures that the CTCN's operations align with the strategic guidance provided by the Advisory Board; • Facilitates communication and collaboration between the Advisory Board, relevant UNFCCC bodies and other stakeholders involved in climate technology transfer; • Reports on the progress of its activities to the Advisory Board; • Ensures the smooth functioning of the Advisory Board’s meetings and activities; • Coordinates the implementation of the Advisory Board's and UNFCCC Parties decisions and guidance; and • Follows closely the consideration by UNFCCC Parties on climate technology related issues, in particular those that potentially impact the work and functioning of the CTCN. Further, in support of its core functions, the CTCN is engaged in significant communications and outreach efforts in order to ‘generate awareness on’ and ‘demonstrate the value of’ CTCN’s activities and services; share climate technology information and strengthen stakeholder engagement. The CTCN secretariat is looking for a consultant to support its obligations and engagement with the Advisory Board and assist CTCN in delivering communication activities for the implementation of its communications strategy. The consultant will be supervised by the Director of the CTCN or person designated by the Director. This position is located within CTCN, Climate Change Division, Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) Secretariat based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties: A - Support the Director of the CTCN on Governance: 1. Supports coordination with the Advisory Board and the UNFCCC Technology team/secretariat of the Technology Executive Committee. 2. Serve as the main focal point for the preparation and planning of the CTCN Advisory Board meetings: a. Coordinate and contribute to the preparation of relevant meeting documents; b. Liaise with relevant staff and consultants; c. Communicate with Advisory Board members; d. Support the Chair and Vice Chair of Advisory Board. 3. Monitor intergovernmental process on climate technology and analyze impacts for CTCN. 4. Support CTCN engagement at SBs and COPs. 5. Supports communication and collaboration between the board, relevant UNFCCC bodies and other international technology stakeholders. B - Support CTCN communications: 1. Drafting and distribution of regularly occurring e-newsletter to stakeholders. 2. Drafting and frequently publishing content on the CTCN Website and Social Media channels. 3. Coordinate with CTCN team for planning and organizing CTCN events/activities at COPs (side events, exhibition, media coverage). 4. In collaboration with CTCN Communications Specialist: a. Support the gathering information, conducting interviews, and composing draft content for use in CTCN case studies, reports, presentations and promotional materials. b. Support the delivery of CTCN communications materials (videos, photography). c. Support planning and organizing of CTCN events (Regional NDE Forums, trainings); d. Assist in communications-related to collaboration with host institutions and new/key partners. C - Performs other tasks as may be requested by the Director of the CTCN. Qualifications/special skills• Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communications, international and/or public relations or related field. • A minimum of 5 years practical experience in the fields of communications, outreach in social media/web content, articles, outreach materials, event planning and media relations for climate change and environmental issues. • Experience in global communications and working for a UN or multilateral organization particularly in supporting a constituted body or a mechanism is desirable • Understanding and experience with UNFCCC activities is an asset. • Ability to plan, prioritize and deliver tasks effectively and on time; • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines; • Excellent communication skills and respect for a multicutural workplace; • Ability to synthesize information in a clear and well-structured manner; Languages• Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
