Regular Reporting: • Provide periodic updates to UNEP OzonAction, detailing key achievements, progress against milestones, challenges encountered, and proposed solutions. • Submit detailed progress reports, including qualitative and quantitative data, to track performance against established goals and metrics. 3. Project Monitoring: • Continuously track project activities, ensuring alignment with the defined timelines, deliverables, and performance indicators. • Use data-driven insights to inform decision-making and adapt project strategies as needed to achieve desired outcomes. Specific Tasks A. Implementation of the ASHRAE-UNEP Work Plan 1. Detailed Review of the Work Plan: • Analyze all components of the work plan to identify critical action items, prioritize tasks, and allocate resources efficiently. • Engage with stakeholders to validate priorities and ensure alignment with the strategic goals of UNEP and ASHRAE. 2. Development of a Comprehensive Project Timeline: • Create a detailed timeline that outlines all deliverables, key milestones, and deadlines. • Clearly define the roles and responsibilities of each stakeholder, ensuring accountability and clarity in task execution. 3. Monitoring and Reporting Frameworks: • Design and implement systems to monitor the progress of each work plan component, ensuring timely identification of delays or issues. • Establish defined metrics for success, including qualitative and quantitative performance indicators. • Produce regular reports summarizing the status of activities, highlighting achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement. 4. Stakeholder Meetings and Coordination: • Organize and facilitate stakeholder meetings when needed to discuss progress, address issues, and plan upcoming activities. • Prepare agendas, meeting materials, and action plans to maximize the productivity of these meetings. • Ensure follow-up actions are clearly documented, communicated, and implemented. 5. Documentation and Continuous Improvement: • Record lessons learned from the implementation process, identifying areas for improvement and replicable best practices. • Provide strategic recommendations to enhance future collaboration efforts between ASHRAE and UNEP. B. Finalize the Implementation of Pilot Communication Points 1. Finalization of the Pilot Plan: • Review the pilot plan in detail and incorporate feedback from relevant stakeholders to address gaps or challenges. • Ensure the final version includes actionable steps, a clear implementation framework, and realistic timelines. 2. Structured Communication Channels: • Develop structured communication protocols between ASHRAE regional chapters and National Ozone Units, ensuring clarity, consistency, and efficiency. • Facilitate the establishment of direct points of contact within ASHRAE chapters to streamline communication and coordination. • Create guidelines or tools, such as templates or digital platforms, to support effective information exchange. 3. Technical Support Activities: • Coordinate the delivery of technical assistance through ASHRAE’s network, ensuring that support is aligned with the needs of National Ozone Units. • Monitor the implementation of these activities to ensure they are executed effectively and achieve the intended objectives. • Address emerging challenges promptly, engaging with stakeholders to identify and implement appropriate solutions. 4. Progress Tracking and Feedback: • Continuously assess the effectiveness of communication channels and technical support activities. • Gather feedback from National Ozone Units and ASHRAE chapters to refine processes and ensure continuous improvement. C. Launch of the UNEP RAC Sustainability Guide 1. Stakeholder Consultations: • Organize comprehensive consultations with stakeholders to gather input on the guide’s content, structure, and usability. • Facilitate workshops, focus groups, or surveys to ensure diverse perspectives are captured and integrated into the final version. • Address feedback systematically, ensuring that the guide meets stakeholder needs and aligns with UNEP’s strategic goals. 2. Communication Strategy Development: • Create a communication strategy to promote the tool effectively, targeting key audiences such as industry professionals, policymakers, and technical experts. • Develop a timeline for promotional activities, including pre-launch outreach, launch-day events, and post-launch follow-up. • Identify key messages and leverage multiple communication channels (e.g., digital platforms, print materials, webinars) to maximize impact. 3. Launch Event Execution: • Plan and execute a high-profile launch event to introduce the guide to stakeholders. • Coordinate event logistics, including invitations, agenda preparation, speaker coordination, and promotional materials. • Ensure broad participation, including representatives from ASHRAE, UNEP, industry leaders, and other relevant entities. 4. Post-Launch Monitoring and Feedback: • Monitor the adoption and use of the guide among target audiences, gathering data on its impact and effectiveness. • Develop and implement mechanisms for collecting feedback, such as surveys or focus groups. • Use feedback insights to refine the guide in future updates, ensuring its continued relevance and utility. D. Assembly of Usage Data for Joint UNEP ASHRAE Products 1. Collection of Data • Interact with ASHRAE as needed • Consult with UNEP resources for the visualization of data 2. Recommendations • Draw conclusions from usage data as to value and acceptance • Make recommendations regarding updating/revision 3. Promotion • Develop plans to follow up with users to promote use and solicit feedback • Develop plans to increase new registrations for product use Assembly of usage data for joint UNEP ASHRAE products E. Revamp of Lower GWP Innovation Award portion of the ASHRAE UNEP portal 1. Propose a New Award Category for Engineering Students • Develop a detailed proposal for introducing a new award category specifically for engineering students. • Ensure the category aligns with our mandate to support research in sustainable cooling solutions. • Define eligibility criteria, submission requirements, and judging guidelines for this category. 2. Refine Selection Criteria and Weightings: • Review and update the award’s evaluation • Propose a framework with new weightings (including safety and environmental impact), • Provide a clear explanation of how each criterion will be assessed. 3. Enhance Visibility of Selected Projects: • Develop a plan to showcase selected projects in ASHRARE/UNEP newsletters. • Propose a strategy for inviting winners to present at key events, such as regional network meetings or ASHRAE/OzonAction events. • Document Past Projects and Create a Knowledge-Sharing Platform by preparing detailed case studies of past selected projects, including visuals. • Design and propose a global knowledge-sharing database with ASHRAE to archive and showcase all previous selected projects. • Outline the steps for developing, maintaining, and promoting the database to ensure it serves as a valuable resource for future participants. F. Draft 2026/2027 Biennial Work Plan of the ASHRAE-UNEP Global Cooperation Agreement 1. Consultations with UNEP and ASHRAE Leadership • Assess outputs of previous workplan • Identify goals and objectives that ASHRAE and UNEP achieved during 2026 and 2027. 2. Identify programs and activities for new workplan • Translate mutually shared goals and objectives into activities • Conduct needed resource analysis • Identify outputs and desired results • Describe tracking mechanisms 3. Partner Review • Review the draft plan with ASHRAE to ensure mutual acceptance and support Additional Responsibilities • Provide technical expertise in RAC-related areas, including refrigerant management, energy efficiency, sustainability strategies, and emerging technologies. • Strengthen collaboration across UNEP, ASHRAE, government agencies, industry, and academia to align efforts, optimize resources, and drive innovation. • Lead training sessions, facilitate workshops/ webinars, and knowledge-sharing forums, while assessing their impact and effectiveness, and enhance stakeholder engagement, outreach, and resource mobilization. • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of methodologies, processes, and results to support informed decision-making and future initiatives. Qualifications/special skillsA minimum of (15) years of progressively responsible experience in the fields of environment, engineering, technology, chemistry, or a related field is required. This experience should demonstrate a strong understanding of relevant issues and expertise in the subject matter. Minimum requirement of a bachelor’s degree in science, environment, engineering, business, public policy, or other relevant areas. Other academic qualifications, in combination with the qualifying (ten) years of working experience in a related field may be accepted in lieu of the bachelor's degree. Experience working in or with developing countries, showcasing a deep understanding of the specific challenges and contexts associated with these regions is desirable. Extensive experience in planning and managing workshops and training events, and in working with different stakeholders, as well as having very good communication and facilitation skills (Required). Understanding of the Montreal Protocol, including comprehensive knowledge of the refrigeration and air conditioning sector, and related energy-efficiency issues (Required). Strong policy and technical expertise related to the implementation of the Montreal Protocol in developing countries (Desirable). Good understanding of national obligations arising from the Kigali Amendment under the Montreal Protocol, and other capacity-building activities (Required). Excellent communication skills, enabling the effective sharing of knowledge and information with a diverse audience (Required). Excellent writing skills with the ability to prepare clear, concise, and well-structured reports (Required).
