5/5/2025
Organization Overview
The World Resources Institute (WRI) is a non-profit global research organization that spans more than 50 countries, with offices in the United States, China, India, Brazil, and more. Our more than 800 experts and staff work closely with leaders to turn big ideas into action to sustain our natural resources—the foundation of economic opportunity and human well-being. Our work focuses on six critical issues at the intersection of environment and development: climate, energy, food, forests, water, cities and oceans.
About the Clean Air Catalyst Program
The Clean Air Catalyst was a USAID-funded consortium (Cooperative Agreement) Program that WRI was leading with Environmental Defense Fund and other partners. The consortium included 7 global atmospheric science, public health, media, and policy partners. It worked in three pilot regions with WRI international offices and local partners to test and refine a three-part data to action methodology for improving air quality and delivering climate and development co-benefits. The current assignment will focus on the City of Nairobi, which is one of the pilot cities and will be funded from the bridge funding received after USAID SWO.
Project Overview
The Emissions Inventory (EI) is a scientific study involving the collaboration of CAC scientists and experts working closely with the city of Nairobi and local university partners to generate data on emissions from sources of air pollution in Nairobi. The study will be used to raise awareness of the priority sources of pollution in Nairobi and produce evidence for analyzing the impacts to health, gender equity, and the climate.
