The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) envision a more equitable world where trees in all landscapes, from drylands to the humid tropics, enhance the environment and well-being for all. CIFOR and ICRAF are non-profit science institutions that build and apply evidence to today’s most pressing challenges, including energy insecurity and the climate and biodiversity crises. Over a combined total of 65 years, we have built vast knowledge on forests and trees outside of forests in agricultural landscapes (agroforestry). Founded in 1993 and 1978, CIFOR and ICRAF are members of CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food secure future dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources. CIFOR-ICRAF is looking for a
1. Support the design and implementation of the project's Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) activities
2. Identify, collect and analyze relevant geospatial data (satellite images, field data, etc.).
3. Supervise data collection in the field using GPS and other mobile mapping tools.
4. Set up an organized and accessible GIS database
5. Produce thematic maps for reforestation, ANR, agroforestry and participatory forest management activities
6. Produce monitoring maps of forest cover and restored ecosystems
7. Carry out analyses of trends in deforestation, soil degradation, and landscape restoration.
8. Assess the impact of project activities using specific environmental indicators
9. Train local teams and communities in the use of GIS and GPS tools
10. Contribute to capacity building of partners on participatory mapping methods
11. Document and present analysis results in the form of reports, maps and presentationsParticipate in coordination meetings and provide recommendations based on GIS analyses
