Programme Overview:


India’s Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) is one of the largest public immunization programmes in the world. It caters to 27 million infants and 30 million pregnant women. The programme provides access to vaccines against 11 Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPDs) at the national level and against one VPD at the sub-national level.

Under the strong leadership of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) and state governments, the immunization ecosystem has demonstrated a proactive commitment to achieving universal immunization coverage in the country in recent years. This includes health system strengthening efforts towards the introduction of new vaccines, rolling out of data systems, digitization of vaccine cold chain and inventory management, and health worker capacity building. MoHFW plans to scale up a digitized beneficiary management system (UWIN) for Routine Immunization, introduce new vaccines in the UIP, and reduce Zero-dose children.


Project Background:

WJCF’s immunization program supports the MoHFW’s UIP at the national level and in the focus states of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. The programme also supports national and state governments on broader operational aspects such as planning, capacity building and systems improvements for immunization service delivery.

In Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, the programme provides catalytic support for achieving and sustaining 90% FIC. The programme focuses on setting up effective program management & review mechanisms, identifying pressing challenges as well as best practices in RI, enhancing impact of well performing interventions, developing & deploying effective solutions to pressing challenges and undertaking multi-year planning for long term immunization systems strengthening.

In Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, the programme provides support to strengthen urban immunization systems and improve urban coverage in select cities in collaboration with the MoHFW and the state governments. Guided by the MoHFW’s City Embrace Model, the programme focuses on solving for systemic & hyperlocal challenges by conceptualizing & implementing contextual solutions.

Position Summary:


We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent analytical ability and strong problem-solving skills for the role of Volunteer. The Volunteer will be expected to support the development of Urban Immunization Strengthening roadmap for the cities under the City Embrace Model in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The Volunteer will be getting an opportunity to interact with government and non-government stakeholders, learn about various processes and policies, and support the identification of programmatic challenges and solutioning strategies.

The ideal candidate must have strong quantitative and analytical skills, excellent verbal, and written communication skills, be entrepreneurial, self-starter, can adapt to the program’s differing needs, and be committed to excellence. Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive literature research to inform the development of an action plan for addressing urban-specific health and immunization challenges.Develop semi-structured questionnaires to gather evidence on gaps and challenges related to the Urban Immunization program at the city level.Lead the primary and secondary research exercise with the support of City Coordinators in identified cities.Perform data analysis on available datasets to derive actionable insights for the development of city-level action plans.Synthesize findings from the interviews, research, data analysis, and identify key challenges and strategic imperatives.Document specific inputs on improving health systems across the thematic areas of data, governance, planning, supply chain, service delivery, and demand generation.Support in developing the urban immunization strengthening roadmaps for the identified cities and support in disseminating them to the state governments.Perform other responsibilities as requested by programme leadership.

Qualifications

1-2 year of work experience in management consulting, in public and/or private sector, specializing in research and analysis.Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Public Health, Mathematics, Sciences, or a related discipline.Good analytical (qualitative and quantitative) skills and communication (written and verbal) skills, including development of analyses/presentations.Ability to handle ambiguity, self-motivate, multi-task and operate in an ever-changing and fast-paced setup.Entrepreneurial mind-set, including the ability to self-motivate while working in a high-pressure, limited structure, and multicultural environment.Capability to drive an independent workstream in the context of a broader team project, and an ability to break down and solve problems through quantitative thinking and analysis.High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.Willingness to travel if required and at short notice, even to remote places.Fluency in English and Hindi.Excellent structured oral and written communication ability.

Preferred:

Master’s or any other post-graduate degree in the related discipline.
