Your responsibilities

The Institutional Repositories section of the IT-CA Group at CERN aims to provide tools to archive, preserve, and maintain long-term access to content that holds legitimate interest for CERN.

As a graduate joining our team, you will contribute to two key projects: the Digital Memory Project and the CERN Open Data Portal. Your role will involve developing and integrating solutions to ensure the efficient, standardized, and sustainable long-term preservation of CERN's data. A particular focus will be on applying best practices for long-term preservation across various content sources, especially when managing data stored in the Open Data Portal.

Your key responsibilities include:

Implement and integrate long-term preservation solutions with major data sources at CERN.Support the completion of ongoing digitization projects, ensuring that content is properly catalogued and archived in line with CERN's data preservation standards.Optimize data storage and management processes within the CERN Open Data Portal.

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge

Python, JavaScript, Django, Flask, SemanticUI, React, GitPostgreSQL, Elasticsearch/OpenSearchDocker, OpenShiftExperience in UX design and working on open source projectsFluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.You have a professional background in Software engineering (or a related field) and have either: a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

What we offer

A monthly stipend ranging between 6212 and 6828 Swiss Francs per month (net of tax).Coverage by CERN's comprehensive health scheme (for yourself, your spouse and children), and membership of the CERN Pension Fund.Depending on your individual circumstances: installation grant; family, child and infant allowances; payment of travel expenses at the beginning and end of contract.30 days of paid leave per year.On-the-job and formal training at CERN as well as in-house language courses for English and/or French.
