Job Overview: As part of IRC-LA’s Integration Programs, the Financial Coach is responsible for delivering Economic Empowerment programming to eligible low-to-moderate income populations. Reporting to the Economic Empowerment Supervisor, and working closely with IRC’s Afghan and Ukrainian Newcomer Success Programs, Immigration team, and Adult Education team, the Financial Coach will coordinate and provide financial coaching services for clients in programs across the local office and the Los Angeles Region, as well as serve as one of the points of contact for IRC’s Center for Economic Opportunity (IRC-CEO).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide 1:1 financial coaching/counseling to eligible newcomer clients and achieve positive financial outcomes. Assess client needs and develop individual action plans with each client. Make appropriate referrals and integrate other wraparound supports (i.e. benefits, tax preparation) into counseling to achieve greater results. Support program volunteers in 1:1 financial coaching/counseling or classroom financial literacy education roles. Host workshops on credit education and car purchase for loan applicants to IRC Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO). Screen interested applicants and provide coaching/counseling on alternative options to loans whenever possible. Ensure that all training requirements are met for participants in budgeting, cash management, savings, and credit building. Ensure that participants complete required training. Coordinate with the Economic Empowerment Supervisor on external outreach to banks, credit unions, community-based organizations, VITA tax sites, and other relevant service providers to assist with client stability and program outcomes. Accurately track participant attendance, data, follow-up services, and outcomes in IRC’s ETO Database. Successfully complete CNM Certified Coach training; other related trainings may be completed based on programmatic needs. Follow all programmatic, contractual, donor requirements and IRC standards of practice. Participate and attend community of practice (COP) calls for economic empowerment programs at the IRC, as well as with community partners and national stakeholders, as needed. Other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Undergraduate degree in psychology, sociology, education, political science, or anthropology preferred; or combination of equivalent years of education and related work experience; Experience with financial education, counseling and/or coaching; High level of familiarity with U.S. credit and banking system and experience with personal budgeting, banking and credit counseling; Demonstrated ability to communicate well with people of varied backgrounds; High level of comfort, functioning and effectiveness in multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams; Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and computer literacy; Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to make presentations to small groups and large groups; Ability to work independently, be a self-starter and manage multiple tasks; Fluency in English required. Proficiency in Dari, Pashto, Farsi, Ukrainian, or Spanish strongly preferred. Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area required.

Working Environment***:***

A combination of standard office environment and time in community-based locations to perform the above responsibilities in the service area, with the potential for some remote work. Occasional domestic (non-local) travel required; up to 35%. Occasional weekend and/or evening work required. Staff are required to adhere to IRC’s COVID risk mitigation policies.

Compensation: (Pay Range: $25 - $27**)**Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
