    Job Title: Finance Assistant

    Grade: SC5

    Type of contract: Service Contract

    Duration: 12 months

    Duty Station: Bangkok, Thailand

    This vacancy announcement is for Nationals of Thailand.

    WFP offers a competitive compensation package including with salary for SC5 starting from THB49,438 per month, 30 days of annual leave balance, social security plus a medical insurance and other benefits you may be entitled.

    Remote work may be possible depending upon the operational requirements of the Programme. Requests areassessed on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the personal circumstances of the requestor given theoperational situation.

    PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

    The Finance Assistant SC5 is expected to take responsibility for completion of a range of finance and accounting related processes and activities required at the Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist in providing the procedural and technical support within the areas of finance and accounting, to ensure compliance with WFP financial policies, rules and regulations.

    • Monitor the bank and petty cash accounts regularly, to ensure that adequate funds are available and appropriately disbursed.

    • Review and reconcile various clearing accounts to ensure appropriate balances, and investigate erroneous/invalid entries and take appropriate corrective accounting action.

    • Verify vendor claims, advances and other receivables and observe appropriate procurement procedures, to ensure that suppliers are paid in a timely manner and in conformance with WFP finance rules and regulations.

    • Maintain the web-based register for all invoices and payment transfers and record paperwork, to ensure that all documents are maintained and filed in compliance with WFP standards and guidelines,

    • Monitor and record all expenses in line with the approved budget in order to ensure that correct expenditure costs are charged and payments to external suppliers, cash grants and other supplier invoices are processed in a timely manner.

    • Perform other related duties as required.

      DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:

      • To support effective delivery of finance services in order to facilitate transparent and efficient utilization of financial resources.

        QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

        Education:

        • Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area (finance & accounting) is desirable. University Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related fields would be desirable.

          Experience:

          • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in finance and accounting work including at least two years in the field of administrative services or others related field.

          • Has experience collecting and monitoring financial data on projects and programme, assessing financial health and status, and reporting findings to senior leaders.

            Knowledge & Skills:

            • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

            • Knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems.

            • Experience with SAP, Oracle and other ERP software is highly desirable.

            • Experience within the UN system in finance, accounting, and budget would be an advantage.

              Languages:

              • Proficiency in both oral and written communication skills in English and Thai
