Organizational context:

UNHCR Office in Hungary is located in Budapest, and acts as UNHCR Representation for Central Europe (covering the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia).
The position:
As a member of the External Relations Unit of the Hungary operation, the Intern will report directly to the External Relations Officer and will have regular contacts within other Units and countries under the MCO. Under
the supervision of the manager, s/he will provide support in broadening the operation’s engagement with external audiences, partners, and other stakeholders. To fulfil this role,
the Intern may be required to perform duties also outside the office, e.g., during public events.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Support the drafting of information materials including various thematic reports, fact sheets, information brochures, newsletters, and other information material,
as required.
• Assist in designing visibility products including posters, banners, and other products, as required.
• Support the organization of events and liaise with various counterparts
on implementation.
• Support the organization of UNHCR senior management, donor, or media visits
to the projects.
• Assist in creating content for the country website.
• Assist in creating content for social media.
• Support the monitoring of articles in national media that pertain to refugee-related issues and to the work of the office.
• Assist in drafting and translating routine correspondence and texts.
• Assist in maintaining the office photo bank up-to-date.
• Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum qualifications required:
In order to be considered for an internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
• Be either a recent graduate (having completed their studies within two years
of applying) or a current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme
from a university or higher education facility accredited by IAU/UNESCO; and
• Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant
or of interest to the work of UNHCR.
Candidates must be legally present in Hungary at the time of application, recruitment and hire.
Desirable qualifications and skills
• Language requirements:
English – advanced, required,
Hungarian – native level, required.
• Excellent drafting skills.
• Excellent translation skills.
Conditions:
It is a full-time role with working hours starting from 8:30 am to 17:00 pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week). The successful candidate will be assigned to support the team in Budapest, Hungary.
Allowance:
Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an allowance to partially help to cover the cost of food, local transportation and living expenses. The amount of the allowance in Hungary is net HUF 258,667/month.
