About this position
The Energy Division of the Infrastructure and Environment Sector is looking for a consultant which main objective will be to provide support as Project Assistant.
The market penetration of renewable energy is a top priority for IDB member countries as a means of decreasing their dependency on fossil fuels and the associated volatile international prices, increasing diversification of energy sources and/or as a climate change mitigation measure. The sharp increase in demand for IDB resources provides the Bank with an important challenge regarding the timely and effective execution of its operations in order to ensure the achievement of its development impact in the different countries of the LAC Region.
Accordingly, the Bank is emphasizing the execution and disbursements of all operations, creating important targets to be met by each Division and making supervision of all operations will be critical in the following years. Therefore, in order to ensure that operations are executed as proposed and that timely disbursements are made, a thorough follow up should be implemented. At the same time, the increase in technical cooperation supporting the energy field operations will require further support and management.
What you’ll do
Support INE/ENE project Team Leaders throughout the preparation, processing, and execution of the Bank’s operations (including loans, technical cooperation’s, capacity and knowledge products, operational inputs, loans results reports). Also, provide technical and analytical support to the Division’s project teams in their operational and administrative activities.
The consultant will perform the following tasks:
· Contribute on the preparation and execution of lending operations and technical cooperation.
· Review project reports for loans and technical cooperation’s in accordance with Bank’s policies, guidelines, and procedures.
· Participate in reviewing and editing operational documents, including Development Effectiveness (DEM), Results Matrices, Environmental Safeguard Screening and Classification Forms, Environmental and Social Strategies (ESS), etc. before their submission to the different committees through the project cycle.
· Provide guidance to the team in HQ and Country Offices on the preparation, scheduling, and processing of Bank operations.
· Administrative support in the loan and technical cooperation preparation process.
· Prepare memos and other communications required for document processing and distribution (example aide memoires).
· Prepare mission announcements for approval in Convergence, updating the Division’s shared calendar for official mission and leave.
· Follow up on the status of the Division pipeline of operations and technical cooperation, as well as PCR’s and other relevant products.
· Attend project operational review meetings and prepare minutes if needed.
· Work closely with the Division’s Administrative Coordinator to assist on administrative requirements and processes.
· Provide support on hiring process of consultants, as well as procurement and bidding documents, to ensure compliance with policies and alignment of project activities with operating plans.
· Have knowledge of regulations and procedures of the Bank to effectively perform each of the processes under responsibility.
· Other duties as might be necessary to support the effective delivery of administrative services within the Division.
What you’ll need
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, or any related field.
· Experience: Minimum two years of relevant work experience. Having worked at the IDB and having experience in operational and administrative support is a plus.
· Languages: Excellent oral and written command of English and Spanish
Key skills
· Advanced computer skills in MS Office, knowledge of Bank’s operating systems (convergence)
· Knowledge of Bank’s administrative and operational policies and procedures
· Ability to provide clear, concise and timely information;
· Ability to work independently, within initiative and responsibility, and establish work priorities;

Requirements
· Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
· Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
